UCI had a lot of success with the tip shot.While watching match on espn 3 Kathy said that Lee was telegraphing when she was going to use the tip shot, she would hold her arm straight up in the air as she approached the net in her attack as opposed to having it cocked they showed a replay are sure as the day is long she was right.

4. because Pestolesi needs her in the middle this season.
Have mentioned before that Pestolesi says Mitchem is a 6-rotation player and that her back-row play is keeping their very good libero on the bench.
We’ll see how she makes the jump to DI. And we’ll see how UH decides to use her next year when she’s in camp

Annie Mitchem’s stats so far for her undefeated Irvine Valley College team , 207 kills, 4.22 per set, .542 hitting percentage, 130 digs, 2.65 digs per set, 1.18 blocks per set, Leads her team in kills, blocks, aces, digs and hitting percentage. Just Wow!
Why is she not an outside hitter?? She is her team’s best passer and digger, Coach Shoji should give her a look on the outside IMO.

Wahine did Hawaii good on this road trip! I was hoping for a Hawaii sweep for honors of the week, but UC Davis’s Squyres had 24 kills on both nights.

Still a lot of regular-season vball to go but it’s always fun to pick apart the minds of the NCAA Championship Seeding Committee and try to predict the outcome of this year’s top seeds in each of the 4 regionals:

Washington Regional : If both Stanford and Washington remain unbeaten before their penultimate conf. match, both Pac-12 schools should be awarded 1 of the 4 top seeds. And common sense says Washington will be sent to the Washington regional.

Iowa State Regional: Big 12 Texas is the obvious choice, yet Texas and Florida meet up in the last match of the regular season for both, and should Florida win, that could make it easier to send Stanford here as the top seed.

Minnesota Regional: Big Ten country, and the conference champ will be this region’s top seed. But which Big Ten team? Wisconsin? Illinois? Penn State? Or would the Committee pull a shocker and send Jerritt Elliott & his Horns here as the top seed?

Louisville Regional: ACC territory, so you would think Florida State has the lock on this one. Not if Mary Wise & her Gators has a say in the matter, which they will if they can beat Texas in a non-conf. season-ending match.
