Gameday: UC Irvine

By Brian McInnis on January 25, 2014

Hawaii spoiled Cal State Fullerton’s homecoming night last season. Can the Rainbow Warriors do the same at league leader UC Irvine today? It will be a tall task. Irvine (13-7, 4-0 Big West) ranks among the national leaders in blocked shots, rebounding, assists and defensive field-goal percentage. UH (13-5, 2-2), however, has put up an average of 95 points in its last two games, including a breakthrough 90-73 road win at UC Davis on Thursday. Tonight’s ESPN3-streamed game (5 p.m. […]

UH goes for the ‘Jackfecta today, with its women’s basketball (74-66) and soccer (1-0) teams having won in Flagstaff already […]

Gameday: Western Michigan

By Brian McInnis on November 9, 2013

The Hawaii basketball team will go for a 2-0 start to the season in about 20 minutes against Western Michigan on Day 2 of the Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Rainbow Classic. This figures to be an improved opponent from an overmatched Tennessee State squad on Day 1. The Broncos looked balanced and disciplined in their 70-64 nightcap win over New Mexico State on Friday. One player who played pretty well I didn’t mention much in my main TSU game recap […]
