14. To get into the men’s NIT, UH mbb has to WIN the conference regular season championship (but lose the conference tournament).
For the women’s WNIT, the highest finishing team in the regular season that is not selected for the NCAA tourney gets an automatic berth. That was the 2nd place (by tiebreaker) Wahine last season.

It seems like there is a cultural shift in the program that may be a pervasive dynamic going forward. Multi national, multi cultural, American, international, local, all over. Different from past years. The base has been established. Year 5. Will be ready for phase II soon. Consistent Tournament team (NIT or even CIT is good) will be the goal as Phase II emerges. Similar to Wallace’s run but in a more “ohana” based, multi-cultural way. Dotted with local players just like Reilly did it. I think it’s happening now. Kind of hard to tell but it seems like it’s starting up. Just got to win more consistently. Can do Coach. Its ready.

The UH MBB Big West Tournament results have not met fans’ expectations, after the 2015-16 season.
One and done for 3 years, i think.
The UH WBB team finished the last season seeded 2nd and lost in the BW Tournament championship game.

Ganot has done a very good job. It’s always been difficult to recruit great bball players to play over here. He’s done great finding players who can play. No names who can play ball and be competitive.
