islandman: What worries me more about the performance of the football team is attendance. Hawaii is 2-0 coming into their game against Nevada. They have a chance to stay in first place for one more week, stave off the inevitable, because everybody could see by then that Fresno State was Jim Sweeney-good. And they can’t even get 25,000 people in the stadium.

And then the wheels came off…for awhile.

But it doesn’t seem to make a difference if they’re winning or losing.

The attendance was 30,911 for the bowl game, but it didn’t look that way on television. That must be tickets sold. I wonder what the actual gate was?

I keep returning to this point. The program lost a generation of fans because they went to pay-per-view. The same-day telecast on K5 was absolutely key to breeding future fans.

I just have this image of Mr. Tsai being the ONLY one listening to a talkative relative (oh come on, now. We all have at least one) at the obligatory family Christmas Eve suddenly getting an alert on his phone, putting proverbial index ginger up between his face and said talkative relative, proceeding to speed dial someone and atart taling into said phone, and walking away from now silent talkative relative. Calling in to have written/print breaking Ursua News story.

#38 – the financial statements should have separate columns for baseball and men’s volleyball, then all non-revenue sports together.
#37 – men’s golf, tennis, and swimming have 4.5 scholarships each so that’s equal. Then it’s a matter of coach’s salaries, roster size, and travel.

Got to endow scholarships.

You know the strange thing? I could still see McMackin coahcing this team. Be the Lou Holtz of the Pacific or something.

Fight PC, folks. PC simply is not normal. That person or persons who lodged a complain would hope that I wasn’t coach at the time of that situation. I would have calle in every legal favor. Would’ve spent every reasonable dime to fight it.
