Maybe, I think we need to revamp and start restructuring our team. Maybe not? Losing Emily Maglio to graduation was huge. No one on this team so far is that impactful IMO. Poor McKenna Granato! She is put in such a 50/50 situation. Great kill and then Shank Pass! Scouting Hawaii will be easy because every team like Portland will serve at her. I would not keep her in the back row and would sub her. With who? I don’t know, but we need to find out soon because 2nd place in the Big West may not even be at reach. I think we could definitely lose to any team in the BW from top to bottom especially on the Road and hope to be above .500 at Home. Every team in BW is licking their chops waiting to face us. Bloggers, this is not about being negative, but a reality check. I have waited for 4 years to see Castillo and Granato to
hold up this team because of their experience and because their SENIORS. Like the Emily Hartongs, Nikki Taylor’s, and Emily Maglio. that took over their Senior Years as we all witnessed.
I am a little disappointed but again their supporting cast of players with them may be adding to the frustration. Our team is like a Auto Parts Co. We have some new, old, and refurbished (transfers) parts. Like they say, ” Why change things, if they are not broken?” This team is just an average team athletically and physically and definitely not in the physical shape I expected. Maybe they completed the mile run 8 minutes, but all that off season training did not equate to thoroughbred athletes. Maafala is so positive as team captain and vocal leader but I think the 6- 2 is not a good fit for our current team. We just don’t have enough height in our lineup to have a 5’11” and 5’4″ up to present some problems to our oppositions. I don’t want to keep going on but this might be just one of those years like the 15-12 season. Growing Pains it is! I guess when we stare at the sidelines, we are all hoping that someone could come in and be that “magic!” We can all come up with , “Heck, just try Castenada and why red shirt her?” We are all waiting for answers but maybe we just have to ride this wave because this may the best we will get for 2018. I know everyone is so accustomed to winning records and being the top always. I guess not only the football team is exempt from having droughts and difficult seasons. Maybe like how everyone now is jumping on the run and shoot train for Football 2018. Where was the Fans since 2007? Lets not do that for the volleyball team
If there is any time for us to be there for the team regardless how its looking, its NOW!!! They are giving their hearts and soul to please us all. Nobody likes to lose.. I just needed to get this off my chest…thank you

They are 8-0 for a reason Hoeft has been a big get for them, transferring from Nevada. went 16-1-28.
Hawaii was concerned about Portland’s fast offense and it showed the Wahine’s weakness in the middle.

There are players who have definitely improved from last year, although from what I see, not many.

Given the seniors on this team, are we building the right foundation for the future? Do we need to start playing some other players sooner rather than later? Could also use some leadership out there, imho.
