Both very good players, not the right fit. Think the better term is It didn’t work out. Not that they didn’t pan out.

Some fans have unrealistic expectations of these recruits. Of course the coaches see potential in the kids they recruit, but how many of these kids that fans overhype actually pan out? Read some comments in other boards, and you’ll some of these fans proclaiming these recruits to be starters next year. Another recent example was the hype on Shaney Lipscomb and Sophia Howling.

The coaches looked at these kids and feel excited about them too. If the coaches are not,,,,then why recruit them?

The only different is the coaches know more about them then we fans do but in terms of excitement about the future players, I have no doubt Robyn and her staff is chopping at the bit to get them into the gym and coach them up.

It’s human nature to be excited when something new and exciting is seen on the horizon.

The way sports work is we fans hype up our players while the coaches do the hard work and get them to the level fans wish for.

I’m sure Robyn is glad the fans feel excited. The alternative is to say little or nothing about the incoming players…… which then can be interpreted as the players coming in are average and don’t deserved mention.

Wish that the staff give Janelle more serving OPT since she is more consistent than Rika!!

I assume you stopped watching in the 2000s when Kim Willoughby was on the team?

Regarding the recruits, we can only hope these incoming players can help improve this team. Let’s not hype them up just yet.

Cal Poly sweeps Irvine, 25-23, 25-23, 25-23.

If Irvine had pulled off its biggest upset of the season, it would have put Hawaii not only back in contention but in the driver’s seat for the “automatic qualifier” to the Dance. But Irvine, like every other BWC team, had no answers for Torrey Van Winden — a legit AA. And thus slams the last chance for the 2018 version of the Rainbow Wahine to “represent.”

For those of you who are unclear about the Bows’ chances for an “at-large bid” based on its RPI, the NCAA spells it out here: https://www.ncaa.com/news/volleyball-women/article/2018-11-08/ncaa-volleyball-teams-high-rpi-rankings-tournament

And for those who want to hear the magnificent pipes of the Fat Lady, here she is at last (copy and paste in your browser): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-bXjK_5C8g

I bet that UH fans who watched this match were tense to the max as all sets came down to the wire. Well, with a new lineup next year, UH will be able to challenge Cal Poly more but I wouldn’t bet on who could win the Big West title next year. We still don’t know who signed up for Cal Poly till next week.
