Yes, getting blocked for an opponent’s point is statistically a hitting error.

Personally, I think Castillo has been playing pretty well at OH (hitting wise), so I’m inclined to keep her there. Hawaii tends to get stuck in rotations when Iosia is in the front row. Pro/National teams often have a double sub for this reason. I’d love to see a Ma’afala (who has set the ball brilliantly to the middles and has a solid jump serve) & Sibley double sub regularly. The other option (especially if we’re running low on substitutions) is to keep Koelsch in as the back row setter and just sub Iosia out for Sibley.

Sorry for what might be a stupid question.

Still think Castillo should be opposite(better block vs. opposing teams left side )- Sibley and Granato at OH – Koelsch as blocking sub for Iosia – Mck Ross backrow sub for Castillo/Granato . Still waiting for Mags (and possibly Ross ), to play all around. Team will suffer for loses of Smith (Gong and Okino winners),Misraje and Lipscomb (needed terminators at OH) and Light (6’1″ setter) but still have good players coming in! TEAM needs to stay FOCUSED !!!! I believe in you-ROBYN —- GO BOWS

The denial of UCSD’s application to join BWC is what puzzles me. UH would have a travel partner. And UH would not have to pay travel subsidies to UCSD. UCSD could not have been denied for academic reasons.

Nice for the families to be able to see their Wahine members play in person.

Dave volunteered his team as the lone wolf in 2013 in hopes of saving money on travel expenses. Its been that way ever since.

All BW teams appear to only have to play only once on the weekend they play UH, whereas UH oftentimes has to play on back-to-back nights, both at SSC and on the road. It is definitely a handicap, with the excuse being that UH does not have a travel partner if I recall correctly. And guess what? UCSD applies BWC membership and creates a potential travel partner and are rejected. UCSD would not get a travel subsidy so it’s good for UH, but our conference opponents do not want to lose their advantage against UH despite receiving the travel subsidy.

Maybe I’m way off, but that’s what I see. The only solution is to power through the disadvantage and kick BWC rears.

Even the best teams in the country experience something like this on occasions. No need to be all depressed and make like the world is crumbling.

We righted the ship and won the match…that is all that matters. There were also some disadvantages we faced.

One is we had to prepare for two teams on back to back nights. I believe we were Fullerton’s only game this week. Riverside played on Tuesday so they had three days to concentrate on us, We had to juggle two different scouting reports on two different teams on back to back nights.

Riverside was well-rested and played with a chip on their shoulder. Give them credit for coming out strong.
