The ’92-’93 women’s basketball team swept nationally-ranked UNLV at Klum Gym with UCLA AD Judith Holland in attendance.

She was quoted as saying that it didn’t matter.

True, Hawaii lost in the first round of the conference tournament(don’t do that), but they were the Big West regular season champions and was 2-1 against the Pac-10.

And here is the biggest folly. Out of 25 AP ranked teams, Hawaii, ranked 23rd in the last regular season poll, was the only team that was left out.

It sounds like I’m making this up, but Judith Holland was actually on the longlist as a potential candidate for the AD job after Stan Sheriff passed away.

Vince Goo reportedly said that he would fling his body off the Pali Lookout if she made the shortlist.

The ’89-’90 UH men’s basketball team split the regular season series with BYU. Whereas the Cougars lost in the first round of the WAC Tournament to Utah and finished the season 21-8, Hawaii reached the conference final, falling short to UTEP, and finished the season 23-9. BYU finished second at 11-5 and Hawaii finished third at 10-6, but if you’re a bubble team, that bubble is supposed to burst if you lose in the first round of your conference tournament.

Hawaii closed out the season 4-2. 6-3 if you include the conference tournament.
BYU closed out the season 2-4. 2-5 if you include the conference tournament.

My argument is that neither team should have made the field of 64, but, of course, BYU made it.
The case for the Cougars was that they beat another NCAA participant Alabama Birmingham. Hawaii had no signature non-conference win.

Yes, I agree.

NEVER trust the NCAA. The way they exonerated a certain Big 10, Big 12, and ACC team, puts them in the same conversation as FIFA and the Olympic Committee.

I NEVER trust the NCAA.

Yeah that comment was a little insulting considering the MB was a part of ther recruiting class in his/her regime. Shouldn’t have said at all.

Wish complete wahine armory used smartly against Irvine who made three 23-25 against CalPoly…Selection is not only based on RPI (which is computed only by software) but also other favorable factors. For example, unlike Pacific and Longbeach, Hawaii still maintained good standing in conference Table. Also, maintained highest standard in arena, attendance and broadcasting. IMO, wahine is still in hunt for at-large bid with two last wins which could earn two entries from BigWest.

I still believe that coaching staff (AND FANS) should get in the ear of the AD and make an adjustment , of how to schedule games (eliminate back to back games) to give our ladies a fighting chance. Maybe one of the bigs should play OPP/Dball , and to present a bigger block. Maybe , Norene can improve her game without distractions. Still have to wait another year for a setter (unless , RAMS can make a connection). GOOOO BOOOOWS

That Pepperdine loss didn’t negate the full road trip completely. 2 of 3 isn’t that bad, now the girls need to finish strong and win the last two games. But as fate can tell, we’re about to find out what kind of finish we’ll get.
