You know what’s weird? She’s not listed as a libero. She’s considered a dual opposite/outside. I’m not sure if switching her into a different position would be a good Robyn-thing to do. But yeah…maybe Keoni-Lei might get her chances playing with the Cornhuskers, if given the opportunity.

She puts up a pretty good block, is athletic, has a good arm swing, and has good volleyball IQ. And she’s a 2020 grad which means she started at UH a semester early.

I understand a good very good on can elevate a team but spending one on an average/unproven one can be a waste. Maybe she prefer to use her scholarships on players that can help the team in multiple positions. I think if somebody like Zoe Fleck transferred here, she would get one.

I think it’s like kickers in football. Some coaches prefer they walk on and then earn it with their play,While other coaches have no problem giving one to unproven freshmen.

My guess is Robyn has a list of liberos that is worth a scholarship. If she is not able to land any of those, then the rest is going to have to walk on.

Would have been a perfect addition, given UH’s need for a libero. But she ended up committing to Nebraska.

There was an IG post stating that Springborn was gonna attend UH regardless if she was gonna play for UH or not. My thought is she was a preferred walk on and when Akana didn’t pan out, she ended up getting the final scholarship.

Hard to believe there wasn’t another transfer libero or hitter Hawaii could have gotten for the last scholarship. This is assuming that none of the returning players decided to leave the program of course.

It’s an odd signing.

This past season, Robyn opened without a DS, counting on the OHs to be 6-rotation players. It kinda sticks out like a sore thumb that in the past two recruiting season, she has not recruited a DS or L.

Good or bad? I don’t know. But Robyn has been a successful coach and I feel will continue to be a successful, winning coach.

Is there a reason for it, or am I reading too much into it?

Wonder what Robyn is planning for the upcoming season?

On the flip side, Keoni-Lei is now part of the University of Nebraska volleyball team.

My friend has an instagram account and follows her on there. It was mentioned on there that she decided that this was now her final decision. Oh well…now there’s something worth fighting for with both Keoni-lei and Braelyn.

Quite the surprise after the fact that she declined the scholarship from USC only because of the coaching change.
