50. Gong was not suited up. Roster limit 15. Rasmussen instead
54. we’ve done several on them over the years, including last year at Long Beach State when they went with the men.
55. thanks.
56. no surprise about Penn State. it’s a college town and students make up most of the crowd.
as for Baylor and Pitt. They have been good only recently. no surprise marketing has been slow. Took awile for Baylor to get on board with women’s basketball too.
58. that was 10 years ago. NCAA has continued to raise prices.
That’s what I was referring to when saying it’s supposed to be a neutral site. There were complaints at UW about their announcer when UH was playing there a number of time. PA guy was told he couldn’t say Point Huskies unless he also said Point Wahine.
it’s too bad the NCAA site rep isn’t better at having hosts follow the rules.
57. and Krug not introduced as well
59. Aunties give leis to all visiting teams
60. doubtful. Although I do believe she was recruited by UH.

… They showed the Aunties giving leis to the San Diego team after the match.

Friday ESPN3, 11:30 am HST, UH vs #5 seed Nebraska, W-L 27-4.
They only lost to #3 Stanford, #4 Wisconsin (2 times) and #16 Purdue during the season. The 3rd set vs Missouri yesterday was 32-30

Mahalo for your observation on the Wisconsin crowd. I think the Hawaii attendance is even more remarkable given our relatively high ticket prices. About 10 years ago we went to a Washington-Arizona match in Seattle and paid $20 admission for a family of four, and that included 4 hot dogs and 4 drinks!

Anyway, the U-Dub crowd was fairly quiet. Only when the Huskies scored, the p.a. announcer would boom, “POINT, HUSKIES!” and the crowd would yell, “POINT, HUSKIES!” When Arizona scored, the announced said quietly, “Point, Arizona.” Kinda funny.

Janelle was there, though, not suited up and helping during warmups. With the NCAA roster limit, she couldn’t participate in the introductions, unfortunately.

Yes

54. Row13…
Thank you for the info. I watched most of the Wisconsin vs. UCLA match on BTN. Lot of people in the stands, but it seems they’re not as excited as Hawaiʻi crowds. The Stan Sheriff Center is brightly lit all around and has much more family-friendly/oriented activities whereas UW Pavilion seems rather dark around most seating areas except for near the court and the Badger fans cheer only when their team scores a point. Just my opinion/observation.

Surprising Penn State doesn’t draw more considering their championship history and the outstanding job Russ Rose has done through the years. Stanford and Washington, too, with their respective rich volleyball traditions.

Baylor and Pittsburgh, I think, needs their marketing departments to work on promoting their volleyball programs more to build interest in their communities. They are very good teams and deserve a growing following.

They truly represent the best in the extended Wahine ohana. Arigatou!
