Wahine need to get pass them before they can get their hands on Poly again. I hope Robyn stays focused on Fullerton and Riverside because in the post game interview after the CSUN match you could see how much she wants that rematch against Poly. wahine just gotta take care of business on the road first.

I think this weekend should primarily be used to tune up Granato giving 60% of set distribution to apply POWER HITTING with many variations (high sets, positions, quick sets, using block for advantage etc, but MINIMUM # of tips like a back rower). Bring ~20/50 kills in both games…

But all is not lost….yet. Wins over Irvine, Pepperdine and Cal Poly would put them in the picture, but really on the fringe. Well, assuming they win out. Hoping….just hoping the Wahine deliver. Coach Robyn seems to have found that balance to make them winners.

That L dropped Oregon (12-6/5-3) in Pac-12 standings from tied for 2nd to tied for 3rd place.

As the regular/conference season is in full swing, now is a good time to see how the UH’s non-conf. opponents are faring in conf. play. In RPI order:

[25] OREGON = 12-5/5-2 (Pac 12) … Oregon (defeated the UH twice) is tied for 2nd place in the 12-team Pac 12. Note: In 2017, Pac-12 received 9 bids to the NCAA tournament: Stanford got the automatic, and 8 others were awarded with coveted at-large bids (including Oregon, which finished 8th in final league standings). In other words, 75% of Pac-12 schools played in last year’s NCAA tournament. By comparison, the 14-team Big Ten was represented by 8 schools or 57%.

[40] PEPPERDINE = 13-5/7-1 (WCC) … Pepperdine, in 2nd place after BYU (18-0/8-0), is scheduled to host Hawaii on Nov. 6. Note: Last year, co-WCC champions BYU and San Diego earned berths in the NCAA tournament.

[49] PORTLAND = 15-5/3-5 (WCC) … Portland (upset the Bows) is tied for 6th place in the 10-team WCC. Note: After the Pac-12, the WCC is arguably the second strongest conf. in the West.

[66] KANSAS STATE = 10-7/0-6 (Big 12) … KS (beat Na Wahine twice) is dead last in the Big 12, which is led by Kansas (13-4/6-0) followed by Texas (11-4/6-1). Note: Last year, 4 teams or 44% of the 9-member Big 12 earned NCAA tournament berths.

[117] COASTAL CAROLINA = 6-9 (overall)/5-2 (conference) … Sun Belt is divided into two 6-team divisions, with Coastal Carolina atop the East Division and Texas State (18-5/9-0) running away in the West Division. Note: Coastal Carolina captured the automatic bid to last year’s NCAA tournament.

[211] SAN DIEGO STATE = 6-15/4-4 (MW) … SDS, picked to finish 3rd in the Mountain West, is in 6th place in the 11-team league. Note: Colorado St (14-6/6-2) – the overwhelming fav to repeat as MW champion – is trailing Fresno St (14-6/6-1).
