  3. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 6:57 pm

not too satisfied with Title IX….needs to be upgraded to Title X.

    isnt that right Cindy?

  4. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:01 pm

Same lineup for UH as Thursday. Granato, Akiu, Williams, Iosia, Ma’afala, Liva, Castillo. My guess you’ll see Gaskin when Ma’afala rotates out.

  5. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:16 pm

UH up 14-8. Coastal coach didn’t wait for the TTO. TO Chants.

  6. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 7:17 pm

so far so good. lets go bows!

  7. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:17 pm

    4. don’t know what you’re asking. Title IX is a specified addition in 1972 of a law passed in 1965.

  8. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 7:23 pm

at last, a nasty serve natural ace.

  9. blunite August 31, 2018 7:24 pm

Akiu should get the MVP every match. Her fabulous passing will be the backbone of Hawaii’s aspirations for success.

  10. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:28 pm

UH wins 25-14, 4 of Coastal’s points courtesy of UH serving errors. Wahine hit .591 to Coastal’s .103.

  11. z August 31, 2018 7:29 pm

    Norene is amazing.

  12. ballerz August 31, 2018 7:34 pm

just when you think it couldnt get better. it does! go bows.

  13. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:41 pm

Hawaii leads 15-8 at the TTO

  14. Rabbit ears August 31, 2018 7:48 pm

Wow, thinking if we had Nemeth.

  15. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:48 pm

two consecutive blocks and UH up 19-12. TO Chants

  16. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:52 pm

Williams with the kill. UH wins 25-16.

  17. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 7:53 pm

    15. why? she is hitting 2-2-6. not having a good trip.

  18. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 7:58 pm

lets go bows! dominate this last set like the first two.

  19. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 8:11 pm

Iosia with an ace. UH up 15-14 at the TTO

  20. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 8:12 pm

atta girl norene, need more aces including nasty and tricky ones!

  21. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 8:17 pm

Granato with her 13th kill. UH up 18-16. TO Chants

  22. blunite August 31, 2018 8:17 pm

The middles hold the future; despite great passing, the OHs will struggle against ranked (better) competition.

  23. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 8:21 pm

Hawaii again with 12 service errors. Hitting error by Coastal makes it 22-19. TO Chants.

  24. z August 31, 2018 8:24 pm

McKenna having a really nice match.

  25. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 8:25 pm

Coastal on a 3-0 run, closes to 23-22. TO UH

  26. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 8:27 pm

    walkoff ace for Gong, 25-22.

  27. rabbits ears August 31, 2018 8:38 pm

Why Nemeth? Her upside is through the roof. Cannon arm, quick, good hops, lefty and tall.

  28. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 8:48 pm

    8. cindy i was asking you your opinion. i think title ix is too weak because due to too much fanfare or not enough.

  29. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 8:53 pm

bet your money on tita akiu!

  30. Connor August 31, 2018 9:16 pm

Granato hitting outstanding tonight. However her passing was horrible. Too many clunkers that made setter run to get too. They tried to keep out of return formations but could hide her in couple of rotations.

  31. Ron August 31, 2018 9:24 pm

Great game but the high light of the night was when they gave Tita Akiu a scholarship. Very heart warming and much deserved.

  32. darkfire35 August 31, 2018 9:34 pm

    Hi Cindy,
Any word on McKenna Ross, Sibley, Burns or Howling?

    Go Bows!

  33. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 9:41 pm

    33. They are all cleared to play.

  34. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 9:43 pm

    29. still don’t understand your question about Title IX or what you mean about it being week.

  35. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 9:47 pm

    32. that it was. didn’t get to see it because I was writing but did see the team go over to celebrate.

  36. Bleachercoach August 31, 2018 10:45 pm

Love the energy and fight of these girls.
They are on a mission! We can keep the balls alive because of our great digging , hustling, and diving all over court but our block up front can be suspect. Our offense has shown some life especially in this match. If our OH’s and MB’s continue to get better week in week out, we could have an outside chance to return to a NCAA Tourney by finishing 1st in the Big West. Love to see if Ross, Sibley, Howling, Burns, and Gong become one of those ” sleeper” we need. Every girl has a responsibility to be ready and perform. Sooner or later your number will be called. Its your time to prove that you belong in there

  37. warriorwahine August 31, 2018 11:02 pm

    35. i was asking your opinion about title ix on how good you think it is. i think it is too weak because it didnt exactly put equality into womens sports..for example, people on every other team/on the mainland including when you ask women they treat womens volleyball as ‘just girls volleyball’ and you yourself had admitted that once, where our wahine include volleyball as a flagship sport but to the mainland other teams its just nothing but girls volleyball.

additionally, title ix is a double edged sword because the idea of womens equality just simply existed a system that became gamed at the expense of womens equality. the power 5 conferences for example simply profited off of womens sports and made mens sports (football and basketball) even more prominent. that scale where they put a female athlete weighing against a football player? the football player still weighs more and even more and then some = that is not equality so much for title ix.

I guess Tita got the scholarship that was held for a potential transfer. Since they never got one, it’s wise to award it to someone who is one an done so the scholarship can be used again next season.

It’s unfortunate there is only one left cause I think Sarah Liva deserves one too

Tita is more proven with her Big 12 experience but Liva is the bigger surprise. Wonder how good Liva would be if she came here after leaving Portland State and had an addition year to develop. For someone out of volleyball for two years, she is very productive.

  39. idk September 1, 2018 6:09 am

So how does this work? Since Tita was just given the scholarship, does that mean she will be reimbursed the tuition she had already payed before the start of the semester?

  40. islandman September 1, 2018 8:09 am

Nemeth has a real good arm swing but a lot of her hits seemed to go directly into the Wahine block.

  41. Cindy Luis September 1, 2018 2:33 pm

I suppose that will be how the scholarship thing will work in terms of reimbursement
Don’t think it was being held for a transfer this season
They didn’t have to give it But they felt she deserved it
As for the Title IC thing WW it doesn’t seem you understand what it is
It has nothing to do with how individual sports are treated
The law is about equal opportunity in education and it has been applied to college athletics
