I have seen Stanford play against Connecticut and Texas on TV and North Carolina in person. I think Stanford is beatable by the Wahine; NC is a far greater challenge on Sunday. Stanford depends heavily on its two quick guards who can take the ball to the basket or pull up with a quick jump shot. NC was able to neutralize them with a tenacious zone and athletic guards. Stanford has a good three point shooter in Karlie Samuelson, but she was limited to three of them early in the match. After that she was not much of a factor. Since Stanford does not have much of an inside game, Hawaii should be able to stretch out its defense to contain Stanford. This is very doable.

The key is the Wahine’s offense. So far many of the players have been cold shooting-wise with fortunately some key players getting a hot hand, like Mason and Morris making up for this. In the next two games, most of the Wahine will have to have all or most of their players shooting well if the team is to compete.
