Warrior Beat: Springing back

Slotback Dante McGee will participate in UH's spring ball, which opens on Friday/Photo by Stephen Tsai

Slotback Dante McGee and offensive lineman Kauka Umiamaka have both landed spots on the Warriors’ spring roster. The Warriors open spring ball on Friday.

McGee, a Pearl City High graduate, made last year’s spring roster after acing a walk-on tryout. But there was not enough room for him to advance to the opening-game roster.

Last spring, Umiamaka, a Castle High graduate, announced he would be joining the Warriors as a walk-on. But, again, there was not enough space on the 2018 active roster. He played on both sides of the line at Castle, but will get a shot as an O-lineman this spring.

    Anybody else experiencing blog-access trouble?
I couldn’t even get into the site a few times over the past week. It’s like somebody put an access block on it.
    Weird.
    Annoying, too.

No trouble getting in to the blog, so far. Only some posts didn’t show sometimes, a few days ago.

Looking over spring roster. One name missing-Stephen Bernal-Wendt. Actually thought he might make depth chart as OL. Definitely will be a greatly improved roster for spring and fall-GoWarriors

The last couple days, the Star-Advertiser site has been very slow loading, or just stalls, on my wifi iPad. But seems OK on my iMac with cable ethernet. The site is having some problem… maybe too many ads and cookies trying to load over lower bandwidth internet connection?

We thought YOU were doing all that access shenanigans! 🤪

S.A. I.T. is your Gandalf here, Mr. Tsai (please don’t tell us that the ‘paper goes with an outside firm).

Could also be digital residue from all that ‘captcha stuff, cha-cha-cha. Serious!

I’ve been having the exact same problem as SteveM. The SA site won’t load to my iPad even with a wifi connnection, whether I’m using Safari or Chrome. However it loads immediately to my desktop PC. Weird, and very annoying.

There are too many photos and ads on the front page. I would rather have the old layout which worked fine before they made the change last year.
The main thing I read are the sports articles and the high school and Warrior blogs. Why are the sports logs separated from the sports articles? It doesn’t make sense for sports fans. Now I have scroll down to look for the blogs. It is humbug. I don’t even look at the pictures in between. Plus they slowdown the site.
    Bring back the old format!

    12.

I post at a another blog. The founder of the site told a poster with a similar qualm that it was beyond his control. What I find extremely annoying is the practice of the ad encroaching on content from the top, therefore shrinking the page, and you’re searching for the X, so you can get rid of it.

I still support this newspaper. I still subscribe. I still buy magazines. I still buy CDs. I still buy books, paperback and hardcover. But I do own an IPhone.

    Defunding Special Olympics is INSANE!

If Hawaii don’t make the Mountain West championship this season then he should be fired.

    Championship or Bust

    Howzit Everybody,

    #14,

Yah that’s pretty nutz for say. June nevah win one championship until his final season. Continued growth is all I ask for. Getting 8-9 wins would be continued growth.

The FB spring roster was taken down presumably for some edits. Ht. Wt and hopefully for an oversight or two. I’m sure it will be restored soon. I particularly like the sorting options let’s say by position. I don’t think it’s a big deal it being pulled-I much prefer it to be thorough and complete-

  19. Trunks420 March 28, 2019 9:48 am

So everyone is ok with just 8 to 9 wins every year?

Just look what other coaches in the conference has done in their first & 2nd year.

I believe that maybe Hawaii is the Cleveland browns of the Conference.

Oh well let’s see which teams we beat for 9 wins.

Hopefully we can sustain 9 wins in his 22nd year maybe then Hawaii wins a championship.

If things don’t change Hawaii may end up like Idaho.

Ok no more drinking for me till they get championship

    Katchi katchi chee hoo

  20. kama krab March 28, 2019 10:02 am

    Easy there Trunks420.

Stretching it a little bit brah. Nevah said winning 8 or 9 games a year was a good or bad thing. Just said winning 8 or 9 games next year would be another step in the right direction. We stay looking for consistent winnah not one one year champion. Asking for a championship or bust season is pretty harsh. But if das what you like den go for it. Just no try for spin what I said to fit your argument.

Championship or not, sobriety is good.
