Here the school system started a program called Core 24. That means a minimum of 24 credits for high school graduation (there are minimum Core Subject requirements all geared to have all kids earn a bachelors degree). Most schools run six-period days. So, six credits per year. Four years of schooling provides 24 credits. Yup, if a kid fails a class s/he will have to pay for summer or online classes or remain an extra semester or two. Historically, there are quite a bit of frosh who fail one to three classes in their first semester of high school. Dropout rates are on the rise.

A few years ago, there was a school that had a lot of talent, but unfortunately some students did not take all the required math classes. I mean, they took the math classes needed to earn a high school diploma, but not to gain entrance to a four-year college. Then again, when you’re a high school freshman, sometimes you can’t think that far ahead. Hey, high school is a big adjustment enough. A little early preparation can’t hurt.

This is so concerning for the baseball team. This team just went about as low as they can get. This team was picked to finish 6th and from the looks of things, THEY’RE ALREADY HALFWAY THERE!

There were so many wasted opportunities that cost the baseball team the win. And this team’s hitting is too inconsistent and just can’t capitalize with runners on base. That’s been the theme during non-conference play with the baseball team. One thing that I kept ranting about was the fact that they can’t win games by striking out. And that’s what is so aggravating, because ever since we joined the BWC, coach Trapasso hasn’t been doing this program any favors because he’s only had one non-losing conference record, a 12-12 record in 2016. That alone still isn’t enough to satisfy the fans…as they had 4 losing seasons prior before that. Matlin needs to make a choice because the ticket sales for the baseball team will be watered dry if they don’t get back to winning, and there’s a chance the Les will be as empty as a ghost town in Dodge City. Timing the baseball hits has really been a struggle, and this team needs to start waking up because Fullerton will be around the corner and if this team comes back uninspired heading into the series with the Titans, they might as well make it 9 straight times for not making it to the post-season, and 6 of the last 7 losing conference records. Something’s gotta happen, and Trap is running out of time.

Very wise to emphasize grades to middle schoolers. Sadly, there are many athletes and parents who don’t see the importance of grades until it’s too late. Need to build mind and body!

Looking forward to GOT’s final season. That series is game changer for cable content, having spawned many others who try to emulate the huge success of GOT.
