SALT LAKE CITY >> After the closed practice ended, the food line opened.

Thanks to Jason Cvercko and Josh Omura, the Warriors were treated to Chick-Fil-A lunches.

After that, the Warriors returned to the hotel for more meetings in advance of tomorrow’s game against BYU at LaVell Edwards Stadium.

Some people (probably millennials) say there is no rivalry with BYU. Obviously they have not sat in Aloha stadium in the 80’s to early 90’s

OK, maybe I’m getting old and there is no true rivalry nowadays… but I hope we beat them– for old times sake. 🙄

    GO BOWS!
    BEAT BYU!

Hot dogs yesterday, chick-fil-a today. Is this a foodie blog? We want to read about some football news please!

    6.

I was young but I remember and still recognize the BYU rivalry from the late 80s and early 90s. If Hawaii were to win tomorrow, I think there would be the chance for more of a rivalry to continue. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like there’s any games scheduled in the near future.

  9. mitchhawaii October 12, 2018 3:28 pm

Long time Hawaii fans consider it a rivalry, BYU used to rule Hawaii, but not anymore! Lets go Bows!

  10. H-Man October 12, 2018 3:45 pm

Most of the Mormans I know, do not consider Hawaii a rival in football. For the most part, they say Hawaii not in the same league as the Cougs. So how can there be a rivalry? A win at Provo for the Warriors will help change that perception.

Chick-Fil-A looks ono, but for these growing boys to men, one definitely not enough. I hope that the coaches allowed them to eat mor than one.

Sad news about Chris Roscoe. I still have his UH player card from 1989. He was big time back in 1988 and 1989. First UH player to score a TD in a modern bowl game in the 89 Aloha bowl and his TD catch against BYU in the 1988 game is still one of my all-time favorites.
    Best wishes to his family.

  15. ruggo October 12, 2018 5:39 pm

RIP Chris Roscoe – great receiver.

Not to be disrespectful at this moment, but I recall a TV color guy (can’t recall specifically who it was . . . .) calling him “Ross Crisco” – anyone remember hearing that?

    Condolences to his family.

Hot Dogs and Chicken sandwich ?????? They starving these guys.
Ketchup, mustard and onions on hot dogs, the best.

  17. Inyoface October 12, 2018 6:26 pm

Our defense is the most understated defense. Except for the San Jose State I think they’re doing great. What else more do they want?

  18. Inyoface October 12, 2018 6:39 pm

Hope the defense scares the crap out of that freshman qb like they did last week.

  19. cappie the dog October 12, 2018 6:44 pm

I’m looking all over the Internet for Chris Roscoe’s passing.

    I believe you.

    I just can’t find it.

I remember watching Roscoe in exhibition games with the Bears.

    Comparable to Jason Rivers.

The most p you off play ever was Jim McMahon’s left-footed punt. Why was he even back to punt instead of Clay Brown? He even wrote about it in his book as his most amazing play, I was like, I saw that in person.

  21. roygbivs October 12, 2018 9:43 pm

Wow. Another alum passed …. prayers to his ohana … Rest In Love #89

    Beat’um up good Bows’
    36-30 Us guys

    Go Big Green!!

    GoWarriors!!!!

  23. cappie the dog October 13, 2018 4:52 am

In the 1981 game, Hawaii players were so nervous, they jumped offsides on the first two plays.

  24. cappie the dog October 13, 2018 5:01 am

If Hawaii beat Army, this is probably where they would be in the “Group of Five” sweepstakes.

    1. Central Florida
    2. Cincinnati
    3. Hawaii
    4. South Florida
    5. San Diego State

The pathway would be slightly less treacherous because the MAC doesn’t have a contender. The Sun Belt has Troy and Appalachian State.

If Hawaii wins today, in conjunction with the hypothetical scenario, they’d move pass the Bearcats.

  25. cappie the dog October 13, 2018 5:22 am

    I believe in this team.

The defense that gave up 200 yards against Wyoming, I hope, was not an outlier but the beginning of a trend.

    24-20.

  26. coachdb October 13, 2018 5:40 am

We need to get some turnovers today 4 for the season is not nearly enough. Get that ball back so we can score with the extra possessions!!!

  27. cappie the dog October 13, 2018 6:43 am

Currently watching Minnesota/Ohio State on FS1.

On 4th and 2, the Ohio State runner was blatantly short of a first down.

But the home-cookin’ refs gave it to him.

Somebody from the NCAA must have called, “No! No! No! Too obvious.”

    I hit pause.

When I unpause, I’m sure the call will be overturned.

  28. clyde October 13, 2018 7:17 am

#29: I tuned into the Minnesota game after hearing on the radio that one-time Hawaii prospect Daniel Faalele is starting his first game for the Gophers. Remember the twin tower Aussies discovered by Chris Naeole? Faalele is now a 6-foot-9, 400-pound tackle playing in just his second year of organized football. Meanwhile, the other “tower” never made it to the UH-Manoa campus. Oh, well, coulda, shoulda, woulda ….

  29. Whats up October 13, 2018 8:09 am

The Hawaii Warrior Team should be pumped for this BYU rivalry game. Another team that scheduled Hawaii as their Homecoming Game.

The SJSU and BYU teams actually believe Hawaii Warriors are a bunch of cupcakes and disrespectfully scheduled as the easy win Homecoming Game opponent.

I wonder who else on the Hawaii schedule is showing the Warriors such disrespect as to pencil them in as a cupcake Homecoming easy win?

    I mean, WOW! No Respect.

    Live Aloha/Play Warrior

    Work Grind/Earn Respect/Play Swag/Go Warriors!
