Alaka’i Mashima seems like an interesting one. Kind of reminds me of Eddie Klaneski. Same size, heart and a walk on. Mashima ran down Cedric Byrd to save a touchdown, just like how Klaneski saved a lot of big plays for von Appen’s defense. Hopefully, Mashima can go from a walk on to an all conference player like Klaneski.

It could also hurt it. It’s not bad if you don’t have to fly to the East coast to play one of those games. Far as I can see they are mostly West Coast games. Winning a few of these games there will boost recruiting a lot.

Just think, if we go undefeated that year, there is no way we don’t make the play-offs…lol

For the “home” half of the agreement, Oregon St plays at Aloha Stadium in 2019 and UCLA plays at Aloha Stadium in 2020. The 3rd, away non-conference game in 2021 is against New Mexico St at Las Cruces on September 25. It too is part of a home-and-home series agreement. New Mexico St plays at Aloha Stadium on Oct 10, 2020. So it just worked out that way. There are no other years past 2021 where more than two non-conference away games are scheduled. So I say to take deep breathes, count to 10 and cool jets.

Such an Overrated venue. I rather sit on the concrete bleachers at SJSU.

You can’t only play home games in the modern era as a group of five team. Once in a while the 2 for 1 home and home arrangements will demand that we play 3 non-conference road games in a season. As long as they are west of the Rockies, I’m fine with it. It’s better than playing only 12 games – more football!

No one. Not even San Jose State. If UH can’t land a seventh home game then it should settle for playing the standard 12 games instead of 13. But don’t force your players to go on the road for seven games in a season with two of those against Pac-12 opponents. What are the chances of qualifying for a bowl with that kind of schedule?

This isn’t what the Hawaii exemption was designed for. If Matlin can’t schedule better despite having that advantage then UH should find someone who can.

If UH cannot get a big name for its thirteenth game in Hawaii or the opponents were demanding King’s Ransom, then maybe it’s economical smarter to take a payout from a school from the PAC 12 and end up with money in the coffers.

I would rather have 7 home and six road but if it’s 7 road and 6 home, it wouldn’t be all that bad. If it was like 8 road and 5 home, then we need Matlin to be fired.

UH doesn’t have any kind of bargaining power anymore. We have become a second class program and we can no longer pick and choose. We kind of have to take what is given.

If that’s what it took to get the deal done then UH should have passed. To do that to your program is fundamentally stupid IMHO. With the Hawaii exemption to help Matlin has no excuse for not doing better.
