Two down …

The Warriors’ second practice of training camp was as efficient as the first. The Warriors were able to mix group instruction with 7-on-7 and team sessions.

> The two Coles — Cole McDonald and Cole Brownholtz — split the No. 2 reps behind starter Dru Brown.

> Newcomers Brandon Kipper, Micah Vanterpool and Emil Graves earned significant reps in the team drills. Kipper had several turns as the No. 1 right tackle. Vanterpool was used as the No. 2 left tackle. Graves practiced at left guard and right tackle.

> Fred Uu-Perry was sharp practicing as the No. 1 center.

> The Warriors continue to shuffle the secondary. Today, it was cornerback Cameron Hayes getting several reps with the first unit.

> Safety Tumua Tuinei had the lone interception today. It was the offense’s only turnover in 90 plays in 7-on-7, 5-on-4 and team drills.

    First?

Good to hear only one interception!

Getting excited for this season. And it’s only day 2 of training

Personally I think Micah Vanterpool and Cole Carter could be the surprise players of the year…and I really cannot wait to see Ursua light it up…he reminds me so much of Owens it’s scary.

If anyone attending practices has any insight please share….

The title of the post made it sound like two people got hurt

Anybody know if blessman ta’ala and Josiah maama are joining the team this year? Haven’t seen there names on the roster.

#5 Jason, I heard that Blessman was grayshirting due to an injury … and is expected to enroll at UH in January 2018. I’m also curious about Josaiah but I’m conjecturing it’s either needing to meet academic requirements or just a delay in enrollment until later in August or possibly January ’18 for reasons unknown.

Today it’s 2 down. Tomorrow it will be 3rd down…
So will UH be practicing punts and punt defense?

  8. Ipu Man July 28, 2017 5:49 pm

    Or short yardage strategies?

  9. Ipu Man July 28, 2017 5:50 pm

    Or better yet, long passes?

  10. Ipu Man July 28, 2017 5:51 pm

Or trick quick running plays for long td’s?

From the SA – “…true freshman Eugene Ford, who came up with two interceptions in 7-on-7 periods.” Not bad for a guy with a 5+ 40.

Read Ferd’s article today on UH fans dwindling and next generation millennials not following in previous season tix holders footsteps. We can kill 2 birds if we offer deep discounted tix to all island high school football players and their immediate families. Get more okoles in the stadium and help recruiting. Is that allowed? Kinda like inviting military but focused on HS football…maybe already in place?

Hope everyone is doing well. I’m happy to hear the team looks sharp. Does anyone know if the UMass game is televised? Is anyone from here going to the game? I may drive up there…
