Food is a step in the right direction, if I remember correctly, Stephen Tsai mentioned that Ben Jay had an initiative to raise $300 to pay for meals of athletes after their practices and games, but no mention if the money was raised, and which teams would benefit from his initiative.

Giving or donating money to a “black hole” to cover anticipated losses won’t drive me to reach for my check book, I’d rather donate to a specific sport like softball where I know that the money will be well spent to cover budget shortfalls for a non revenue sport.
