Manziel joins June Jones in CFL

Quarterback Johnny Manziel is joining the Hamilton cast.

Manziel today signed a contract with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League. Manziel, the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner, is the fifth QB on the June Jones-coached team. The other passers are Bryant Moniz,a former UH quarterback; Jeremiah Masoli, a Saint Louis School alumnus; Vernon Adams, and Dane Evans.

Defensive coordinator Jerry Glanville, who joined Hamilton this offseason, said Manziel brings value.

“You never give up on deep-ball accuracy,” said Glanville, who coached with Jones at UH and with the Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons.

Of the controversial Manziel, Glanville said: “Well, we’ve got controversial people coaching him.”

Glanville said the Tiger-Cats have a talented roster.

“We’ve got players,” he said. “If you’ve got good players and you’ve got good coaching, that gives you a chance. It doesn’t guarantee you anything. It doesn’t promise you anything. But it gives you a chance.”

In addition to Jones and Glanville, Hamilton employs three people with UH ties: Alex Green is a running back, Dan Morrison is the quarterbacks coach, and Dennis McKnight coaches the offensive line.

JM if his head is on straight and he is on the straight and narrow, this is a great fit. Much of the northern game is tailored to his skill set…

A certain writer as usual crafts a story somewhat bemoaning the lack of a 7th home game contributing to Athletic Depart deficit. Nowhere in the article as usual does it mention the cost to entice that opponent to play here. Going rate is minimally 500k for a non conference game. The guy always writes with a slant. I have no experience scheduling games and th,e challenges it presents-don’t think he does either-

Find it interesting that Tui commented on the local news that if he didn’t get to play in the National Championship game, the last of the year for Alabama, he was going to transfer out to the USC Trojans. Before to the committed/went to Bama, Tui said he wasn’t afraid of competing.

Prior to this recent comment by Tui; Jalen Hurts’ Dad was quoted as saying that if his son Jalen does not win the starting QB job at Bama this coming season, you’ll see one heck of a college QB recruiting derby for his son. Jalen would be transferring out of Tuscaloosa.

Wow, guess there’s only room at the top for one! Now what Saban? And isn’t Tui’s brother verbally committed to coming in 2019?

Personally I think they are both over rated to be honest. Tui has the higher ceiling because of his throwing ability. More Jameis Winston than Russell Wilson between the ears right now (hero baller). I think he will regress, then progress, into the star that he seems to be. Premature in my opinion, but he’ll validate his star status in the end (I hope). And Jalen Hurts is no Lamar Jackson so his Dad should check down a little bit…. Alabama Football. So loathsome…pfft

Saban likes a game manager at QB, one who doesn’t commit the mistakes here and there that could cost the team, such as an INT, a big loss on a play or forgetting the time left on the play clock.

I don’t care what Alabama does at QB unless Tua comes home to play.

I do care that “Ferd” is an idiot and is the one that should be fired or retired.
