I think Rolo can be a good head coach, but good head coaches have good staffs— a good defensive coordinator and a good offensive coordinator are essential. But to make sure that the players do what the HC and coordinators envision, you need good position coaches who understand the offense and defense and how their positions fit— QB, RB’s, TE, SB, WR, OL, DE, DT, LB, S, DB—and— this is important—coaches get better at these things with experience and by working with experienced coaches. Rolo’s fate was cast when he did not have a budget to hire the experience he needed— this was compounded when he lost an OC with some experience immediately and an experienced DC after one season— but he was stuck when they left. I believe rebuilding the staff is critical— as much as we can.

Going back to the Utah St game; did our team take the red-eye to Utah? Did I read that they landed in Utah at 7:30am on a Thursday; had a few hours of sleep; and then had a practice? What time did they leave Hawaii on Wed; and what were their flight connections; or did they have a non-stop charter flight?

I strongly believe that over-night flights SHOULD NEVER be taken; as it wrecks havoc on the body and mind!

State Government doesn’t have a commitment to education, both to DOE and UH. Definitely no commitment to athletics.

local players/parents who believe UH is a “second rate academically”

personally, I would take that as a grain of salt because it’s not what the school offers as much as what you, as the student, puts into your academic effort and WHAT YOU DO AFTER YOU GRADUATE!

that’s what makes the difference!!!

Well said, Coach DB!! Watched the USU game and it was simple to see that the Aggies were bigger, faster, stronger, and more athletic than UH. Plain and simple. You could run any fancy, swanky offensive scheme and the result would have been the same on Saturday. UH just doesn’t have the talent level at this time. Gotta get out and recruit! Like the old coach said:
