Take away the 24 yarder and he was 13/29 for 152 yards. He overthrew receivers all 3 quarters & misread routes. So #104, if he stayed in all game would the outcome have been happy? Good enough performance for a D1 qb? Watch the replay, tape doesn’t lie!

I felt that Cole McDonald deserved the chance to play out of his extended funk; he accomplished so much in the first half of the season. I just wished, like last night, that the head coach would have had the presence of mind to make a quarterback change. Leaving a struggling McDonald out there, only exacerbated his, whatever the problem is. Mechanics? Lack of confidence? Nagging injury?

So playing Chevan in the SDSU game in California in a game that doesn’t have a much meaning as the huge win last night, just doesn’t make since. Save Chevan valuable redshirt and play him at home in the Hawaii Bowl in front of his family and give him the chance to play in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 (If he doesn’t leave for the NFL draft in 2022). Chevan has caught-up to McDonald by proving that he is a game changer/playmaker both with his arm and feet.

McDonald has taken a beating this season and the Army game showed that if you drop 8 in coverage that is his Kryptonite. Last night was no exception with 2ints, 0 passing TD’s and the O-line was giving Cole plenty of time to read, throw or run. He hasn’t progressed and some of that is lacking passing accuracy that is required in the RnS.

I don’t think we as fans are overreacting but if the defense drops 8 in coverage and gives Chevan the same amount of time to read, throw and run. He has the accuracy and moxie to move the chains or better.

I still want to see what Moussa has to bring the table? Thats why I say start Moussa for the SDSU and give him some badly needed live game reps.

McDonald, Moussa and Chevan are the future of Hawaii Football at QB. And we are lucky to have all 3 of them. But it would be unwise to burn Chevan and Moussa Redshirt at this point of the season.

Hawaii Bowl bound, baby!!!

Go Warriors of Hawaii

He could be the RPO QB with Corderio and Moussa bringing a more traditional RnS (no RPO for them) causing opposing coaches to have to game plan specifically for RPO. Might make it harder to prepare for going forward.

He can be the “Wildcat” QB on some series. Extra lineman, one “H”, one receiving TE and two wideouts Designed counters, power sweeps, draws, roll out R/PO (isolating SS) and straight dropback with max protect. Hard to prepare for too.

But his main role would be as a “big target” slot or a “fluidly mobile” H back. Rangy receiver able to be targeted easily with good “catch radius”. Probably would be isolated against SS or coverage LB so he could beat any of them deep as well.

I hope this can happen. Might take some time but the Prodigies are ready sooner than expected. Cole’s skillset is unique (I think he could play any skill position, defensive secondary, punt returner and even “bandit”) and may be so hard to prepare for going forward. I cant wait to see what develops. Everybody will benefit from this. So good.

So maybe they’ve beaten the team’s they were supposed to beat. The defense needs to start better if they want to be in a better position to beat such teams. We are simply giving up too many yards. The UNLV rb had over a hundred yards before the half. Better teams, that have beaten us keep gouging us. The defense play in the fourth quarter particularly against the run was much better. If the team can play like that from the first quarter until the end, we could find success in our last game. Would be great to end the season beating a fbs team with a winning record.
