Brian Derby, all-state, 3 year starter at UH and mentor and coach to hundreds of high o lineman. As for Pearl City QB, look up Kevin Kamai, who could have easily played college ball, and was a strong strong kanaka at QB, last time I saw him back in the day, he was benching close to 500.

A-House…every team’s goal is to be better than the last game. One would think our Warriors have the same mentality. Your comments make much sense. We’ll see this week if there is progress or not. At the halfway point it’s inconceivable the D hasn’t comprehended the “scheme”.
Then again we have Warriors who don’t quit…
IMUA WARRIORS!

better defensive scheme may help — to let it go for 8 games in 2017 w/o change(s) does not leave a favorable image in my simple mind for the DC

is this too harsh? but, it’s my opinion.

Take AZ prepsters, no one cares in Phoenix if they aren’t going to ASU. Similarly on this forum, no one should care if they aren’t a UH Warrior since this is a UH Warrior Beat.

As a Pearl City alumni, I’ve never thought I’d live to see a day where Pearl City had a QB playing as a starter in Div 1 or actually any player.

It played at the 1992 Venice Film Festival. This film critic also taught English at Leeward Community College. “Baraka” is listed in the third volume of “Roger Ebert’s Great Movies”. He was also a ghostwriter for the Joe Moore epic “Moonglow”. He would tell me that the late Milo O’Shea would call him and beg, ” ___, ___, you have to get me off this film.” He also was in communication with writer/director John Sayles.

To have somebody named Baraka playing for Hawaii is so apropos. “Baraka” has no narrative; it shows the diversity of our planet, skipping across continents, highlighting the people and their culture, and most importantly, the religion, they practice, without any hierarchial order.

Beckett suits our times, too. Beckett was an absurdist.

Welcome to Hawaii, Baraka Beckett.

Pearl City’s Taamu to Lead Ole Miss at Quarterback

By Brandi Higa

It was announced on Sunday that Ole Miss sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson will miss the remainder of the season with a torn Posterior Cruciate Ligament, a knee injury that will require surgery.

Jordan Ta’amu will be asked to step into Patterson’s shoes. The Pearl City alum was 7-of-11 for 78 yards in Saturday’s loss to LSU. Taamu transferred to Ole Miss from New Mexico Military Institute this season.

“That’s one of his strengths — he can really run,” he said. “He’s a very, very good athlete.” said Rebels Head Coach Matt Luke about Taamu.

When asked about Patterson’s injury and the way his opportunity has come up, Taamu responded, “I was devastated. I wouldn’t wish that upon anybody. He talked to me and told me I have to be ready and all that, so right now, I’m confident. I believe that I can take this role and be the starting quarterback. I have to do what he did: carry the team. My social media has been blowing up, but I just have to stay humble, just continue to do my thing and go out there and prove to everybody that I can run this offense.”

Taamu and the Rebels will take on an equally battered Arkansas team this weekend.
