Back in the saddle

Not sure abut the rest of you, but I try to avoid confrontations with angry sorts.
And when the angry sort is a half-ton bull that does not want to be ridden, well, I think the preferred choice is to wait, as we used to say in the ’70s, for “cool heads” before getting on board.
Keelan Ewaliko did wait, going on hiatus from bull riding for five years while playing football for the Warriors. But this weekend Ewaliko returned to bull riding, competing in the Makawao Rodeo at Oskie Rice Arena on Maui.
It is a demanding sport in which 8 seconds — the equivalent of pumping $3 worth of gas — is a minimum-scoing requirement. And like diving, the only preparation is just taking the plunge.
“You can’t really prepare for this kind of thing,” Ewaliko said. “There’s not really any training method. The only way to train is to actually ride.”
Ewaliko competed on Friday night, advancing to today’s finals.

So, notice how the text seems scrunched?
It’s because I figured out that by not adding a space between paragraphs — something the system used to do automatically — it avoids cut-in ads.
    By the way: First!

2nd. Ads pay the bills though ?

  3. islandman July 8, 2018 9:19 am

Is the company that runs the paper losing money ? One article hinted at it.

  4. H-Man July 8, 2018 9:35 am

Glad you were able to figure out how to stop the ads. It’s ok for the primary news paper, but I feel blog pages shouldn’t be subjected to ads.

To appease the spam-ad gods, could insert a space at the end followed by a period. Gotta pay them bills.

It is becoming more difficult to disprove the robot contention. Some of the pics are too small or distant to tell if there is a car, bridge, or vermin-like creature in the background.

from yesterday’s post & video of Zach:

leads his receivers well — short or long
    goes thru progression well
    quick release of the ball
receivers who can run and catch — any available?
    not as quick/fluid as McKenzie

but, an excellent find for UH — hope he keeps his commitment and signs!

    burro:

time to get stronger specs or enlarge picture/wording ( no idea how to do this ) or get SA techies to enlarge pics!

    have a great day!

Zach reminds me of another Daniel from Texas….former Missouri QB Chase Daniel. I believe he had similar size to Zach and also had a rifle for an arm. If Zach is anywhere near Chase, we would be in great shape at QB for the future.

Texas have produced a lot of great QBs so I hope he is one of them.

I will look for big things from Keelan Ewaliko in bull riding and rodeo in general. So cool to have a fire breathing Paniolo on the Warriors’ team.

Hard to get an accurate read on Zach’s height and weight, but he can fling that ball. QB competition will be hot and heavy. Will Zach be eligible in the fall?

    GO WARRIORS!!!

    No bot pic proof today!

    DPK:
I asked him how tall he was, and he said he’s 6 feet and also has been measured at 6-1.
Since I’m over here and Houston is way, way over there, I’ll just take his word for it.
The last — and only — time I had to measure an athlete was the weigh-in for a Ricky Hesia boxing match. The promoter didn’t have any official to do the measurements. And because I had plans that night and didn’t want to take forever before writing a story, I grabbed a tape measure and started measuring Hesia. He wasn’t happy about it, but, hey, I didn’t have a whole lot of time.

What worries me about the newspaper industry is that the Star-Advertiser ranks too high in overall circulation.

  14. Da Punchbowl Kid July 8, 2018 11:58 am

How heavy, how tall? Just throw the ball. Make those touchdowns! That is all!

Skipped the picture test twice today, and I’m still not robot, I’m happy to say!

    GO WARRIORS!!!

Scott Squier is about to earn his first hold at AAA.

He pitched in the same game as Quintin Torres-Costa.

Mike Trappaso has many detractors, but there is the potential for six of his players being in the bigs simultaneously.

And this doesn’t even include Kean Wong, Jake Bauers and Kyle Dowdy.

#10…He is scheduled to join the Warriors NEXT season. Most of the players for this season should be in town already getting their summer school in and getting ready for camp to start in over a couple of weeks.

Zach will have one more year to improve in HS. Committing early could give him some peace of mind going into his last HS year and just focus on getting better and not worry about recruiting.

  17. Jeezy33 July 8, 2018 2:38 pm

Amazing that a short highlight video and same last name can equate to a Chase Daniel comparison. Aim high i guess. It will take more than 1100 yards passing before I jump on board with that though.

His Uncle Jack is a legend. 🤙🏼

What are the correct stats for the Zach Daniels?

  25. H-Man July 9, 2018 9:01 am

Agree with Jeezy that we really won’t know how good Zach Daniel will be. We’ll know perhaps after a couple years and maybe when we see him under the lights. Right now there is little that we know about him except Rolo and his coaches liked what they saw at the camp. I just wonder why all the Texas teams passed on him (for now), It’s still early and more schools might be knocking on his door.

Almost forgot – this one’s for you Keelan!
