Mike,

Jordan showed flashes with his athleticism, but he was young even for a freshman. Coach would get on him a lot in practice for struggling with playing Arnold’s style of ball. Strength was just one factor.
He was Nash’s recruit (specifically, former assistant coach Eran Ganot’s recruit), but Gib wanted him there from the moment he came in as coach and acknowledged he was somewhat surprised by Coleman’s request to leave.

Gib said he wasn’t playing because he needed to get stronger, so why not redshirt him???? He was 17 when he came to the program and was the fastest player on the team, and had second highest vertical, how weak can he be. Leading up to the season he was mentioned in a couple of articles about how well he was doing on the defensive end, then nothing for playing time when the other freshmen are getting lots of time and even starting.

Speed is something we need, I have watched three games so far, Cent. Mich., Cal Poly, and BYU and have not seen one basket in transition.

Doesn’t sound like there were any disciplinary problems involved so it seems like Coach was sending him a message. Coleman was Coach Nash’s recruit, so maybe this is Gib’s way of taking ownership for the future of the program.

the maturing of bobby miles will determine if we go after another pg. i guess gerry blakes’ transition will also be key to next year as well.

it’s been awhile since we’ve seen the likes of ac carter on campus.

or gib could save it for the following year since he would only have two scholies.

we want real men on our men’s basketball team. a man would have stuck it out and worked harder to earn it.

if this is truly the case, then, it is better they leave now rather than stay and cause internal issues.
