I absolutely agree with Tako and amela. Coach is proving to be a capable recruiter. The target had to be getting some size but talented size. The next recruiting cycle I believe Coach will target point guards and forwards. What I saw last year proved that Coach can coach considering he had a redo over team. I expect this team will have a successful season going into next season when all the new recruits arrive next year in July. I’m excited with the direction of the program.

IMHO: Regarding the guards and forwards, the team is looking good. They are young with talent. Expect big things from Buggs and Green. Expect lots of surprises from the new recruits, all smalls. Expect steady play from the other returning players, especially from the returning bigs. This is one of those years full of optimism for the program. The recruitment of the bigs for 2018 were the final pieces of the puzzle.

First a lot of the posters complain about having to many small players so now that we can get the big’s people are questioning if we have quality smalls. Probably next recruiting cycle we’ll bring quality guards then we can complain of not recruiting big’s.

Having good big men are important not matter what some say. Just because GS Warrior can get by without good big men doesn’t mean UH have to follow that formula. Some teams will cause problems with their speed and outside shooting while other can do the same with defense, size and good fundamental team play.

A good example would be San Antonio. They don’t shoots lights out like some team but win with team work and hard nose play. I think UH will be more like a San Antonio instead of a run and Gun Golden State or LA Clippers.

If we can’t get the big shot guards and wings, then the next best things is to get the big time bigs.

BTW….St. Mary is also build like this….with plenty of size so Ganot should be happy about the makeup of this team.

Big men are fine, but in college and in the pros good teams and winning teams all have at least 3 good guards and small forwards who can shoot the 3. Ball handling, ball security, free throw shooting, quickness, on ball defense, 3 point shooting penetration are all the hallmarks of good guard play. They control the game. And not to mention the leadership and the floor general, especially the point guard. So the question is, do we have good guards this year and the next couple of years. If not, we better get some. Otherwise, we are not going far.
