I think they gave away the barn on this one. One year does not make great coach; they should have waited until the end of this season before entering into a new contract. Saw the exhibition game with HPU, not this state, this years’ team is no way near last year’s team. Amis and Thompson are the reason, their replacements this year are not yet nearly as good. Don’t believe the team’s performance will exceed last year. Vander is good but Amis was the real force last year, no one on this year’s team is close to his skill, etc.

I’m happy for Gib AND the University. The trip to Asia was a history-making turn of events that should pay dividends on and off the court. It may even have an eventual impact on the University and Hawaii in general if ties and partnerships are established and can be nurtured.
I’m happy with the players we have. I still hope that Biggs, Blakes and Stevens will someday return to UH, wherever they are right now. One or even two of those guys would increase the quality and depth of this team and would go a long way toward answering Gib’s critics who harped on the disappointing number of no-shows of the top recruits.

glad they got it done. seems like a fair deal.
imagine how much waiting cost the university…104k/yr.

gibber does it again. pulling in recruits from what seems like out of the magician’s hat. most folks would ask….who are these guys.
