Correct. Some comparisons made for a situation are simply inappropriate.

Anyway. Yeah, well, heard a bit more clearer version of what went down in San Diego. Let’s hope things work out for the team (and I’m including Wiseman).

I really don’t think it’s fair to put Wiseman in a “parallel universe” when, again — if you brought up the subject of people his age protecting this country — you cannot discount that he would NOT immediately say, “well, my problem pales in comparison with the daily plight of the men and women of our armed services.” You know? As this blog goes on maybe he knows he did wrong. And it works both ways: maybe this situation, too, is Gibb’s wake-up call to reassess some things going forward. Wiseman acted childish, from what I understand. Does THAT mean he could not do that because of our men and women fighting overseas to protect us? No.

We all know those in harm’s way in protecting us is a great, great thing. To immediately assess what Wiseman did, directly or indirectly, as part of some [Draconian] campaign to neglect what are armed services provide us . . . I just cannot see that. It just reminds me of Bill Maher’s [paraphrasing here] say what you will about the 09/11 terrorists, but, they weren’t cowardly. # 1 about that, who gives a XXXX if the terrorist were brave or not; # 2 simply a non-sequitur.

To me, this is wholly unfair to task this comparison to Wiseman. You can apply that argument against someone complaining about how the sun rises and how the sun sets. I bet if you anyone having trouble in sports (a few ego-filled exceptions noted), they’d say, “well, DUH, yeah those fighting in war make my situation pale in comparison! But, this is the situation I’m in now and yes, it’s a bit different than avoiding IEDs and bullets whizzing past my head.”

Our proud men and women serving in the great armed forces of this great nation solve problems and face dangers that are incomparable with the day-to-day of other Americans (they protect us so that we can do what we do daily, successes, failures, happineses, embarrasses, all).

From what I understand, Trevor’s previous academic problems are not at issue here. Acceptance of his role had increasingly been a problem, and it came to a head in the SJSU game.
