9. That could be possible. But it’s not like Granato has any real chance of making any of the future national team rosters, which is the point of these CNT programs. I’ve never seen Akiu play, but Iosia is the only one with any shot at making any international roster.

Congratulations to Bailey Choy. She is an excellent setter with great hands and mobility. Too bad for our Iosia (alternate), Granato, and Akiu. I am sure the CNT committee looks at the overall package of each athlete. At least. it could add to motivating these 3 players to prove the selection committee wrong by their play during the next Fall Season.

I do wonder if the CNT teams tried to give everybody a chance and try to not to selected repeaters. According to the article, only one was a repeater from the 2017 CNT Minneapolis team that had Akiu, Granato, Gaskin and Scoles.

Maybe the goal is to try and see what everybody has to offer and try to diversify the team. .. Unless the player is special or dominated the tryout, my guess is those who were there last year are already scouted and now the CNT wants to see other prospects.

Yeah, I guess it depends on who was nominated. I do know however, that both Stanford and UCLA did not have their usual lineup due to injuries and Plummer being away. But, a win is a win and I am sure they also deserved it as many teams do. What does a number 1 pairing (19-0) have to do to get a nod. Jeez. Well, as someone else said, hopefully their being able to win out under pressure will serve them well for the rest of the season. Great article by the way.

here’s what the Big West put out. Can’t argue … well you could

After going a perfect 4-0 over the weekend at the Stanford West Coast Classic at the No. 4/No. 3 spot, Cal Poly’s Raeann Greisen and Macy Gordon have been named the Big West Pairs Team of the Week.

Greisen, a senior, and Gordon, a freshman, defeated pairs from three ranked opponents including No. 1 UCLA, No. 13 Stanford and No. 20 Saint Mary’s. They also defeated Pacific in straight sets at the No. 3 spot.

The tandem has now won four straight matches and is now 8-2 as a pair this season.
