The UH men moved into 2nd place in the AVCA Poll, despite the loss to Irvine and UCLA moved down from 2nd into 3rd. UCI moved into 4th place from 5th.

The sand team is as good as advertised. I didn’t think anyone was going to beat Martin/Monkhouse this year so that surprised me. The men are still in contention, they just had an off night. That plus the fact that Irvine is very good. I agree that we might need a split with LBS to get to the tournament . This is still a young team on the way up. I also would like to see the Coach go quicker to the bench.

Beach Bows ranked #2 in the new AVCA poll. They are really good this year, but I think this weekend’s performance shows that they are still getting adjusted. I hope the bye week helps to set some pairings. Would love to see Fitterer pair with Zalopony for some size at Flight 5.

This is why I was critical when Charlie made the comment “it aint depth if you don’t use it” while they were playing Nowheresville Tech State & Eastern Western A&M in the beginning of the year. Easy to use and easy to say then. I’ll admit that I wasn’t fully paying attention as I had the closing ceremonies on at the same time, but I’m pretty sure Matautia didn’t get any meaningful minutes other than a SS for a MB then immediately subbed out last night. If we weren’t cutting it on defense, why not replace an OH to serve and play some backrow and have SVT/Rosenmeier focus on their front row execution. Granted SVT had a career night, he also had some untimely errors and Rosey wasn’t always terminal when he needed to be. Very winnable match.

I want the warriors to win the regular season big west to secure the at large and not have to rely on winning the big west tournament in Long beach but losing this match makes that more difficult, they will have to beat long beach twice at home now.
