new thread up.
10. Monkhouse is on scholarship for beach so she cannot play indoors. Even if she wasn’t, have mentioned that Ah Mow-Santos isn’t big on crossovers.

12. was impressed with Barton and Anae. especially considering this was their first matches of year.

13 have mentioned for a while that Maglio is a junior. she redshirted as a freshman for sand.
she may or may not come back. I asked her this last week. her family encouraging her to stay and take advantage of the educational opportunities. She is now double majoring, said things may change. Guess TV said she had committed to returning??

Is this because she’s definitely decided to come back for her last year of eligibility, or because she is a beach senior?

Hope Julia Scoles picks Hawaii looks like she was at their team dinner yesterday according to their instagram.

Every time I watched her play, I get more impressed with her overall game. She is only a freshman too. I can’t imagine how good she will be in a couple of years.

If she wants to play indoor for Robyn, I have the feeling she will excel at that too. She can pass, she can bring the hammer and she is very athletic.

Funny thing is opponent target her on serve receive….which means she will get a lot of chance to terminate. She usually do terminate. I guess many opponents fear Morgan Martin more so they “pick on” Lea but I think Lea have answered the call emphatically.

Agree that these tough matches at the #1 flight will serve them well. They have proven time and again that they can come from behind, keep their cool and come up with a win. That and they are really getting their conditioning in!

6. Dani Barton probably even better than Anae in Beach. The #1 flight have had tough matches for the last two weekends. Most teams are fielding a really good #1 pair but don’t have the depth at the lower flights.

What differentiates the post-season contenders is their depth at flights 2-5, and one or two super subs. Utah and UW likely won’t be ranked in the remaining polls this year, but they’ll be very competitive at the top pair. When your #1s are winning, it puts a lot of pressure on the oppositions weaker flights. Hawaii’s depth has served them well there. And, Maglio-Schucht’s performance at #1s, where they keep dangling third sets in front of the opposition is keeping the opposition’s best pair at the #1s, hoping for the upset, instead of sliding them down to the #2s and giving up the #1s. I doubt it is being planned this way, but sometimes serendipitous things happen.
