To me, it really doesn’t matter. We got a first round bye and that was huge.

Both UCSB and Irvine are both dangerous. Whether UH is seeded first or not, We will be facing either one of these teams.

Yes!!! I want to win tonight but with the undefeated streak no longer in play, we should focus 100% attention to the BW tournament.

It’s senior night for LBSU but that won’t stop me from screaming my head off for UH. Passing will be key. Hopefully LBSU won’t be so lucky tonight with so many serves tickling the tape. Let’s go Bows!!!

Per Steve, the first four tiebreakers are below (tiebreakers won’t go beyond these four tonight):

“#1 – winner of the 2 head to head conf. matches between tied teams.
#2 – sets won/lost % in the 2 head to head conf. matches between tied teams.
#3 – points scored/points allowed in the 2 head to head conf. matches between tied teams.
#4 – sets won/lost % in all 10 conf. matches between tied teams.”

Currently, LBSU is 1-0 in matches, 3-2 in sets, and +3 in points versus UH. UH has lost 2 fewer sets than LBSU in conference play, including last night’s match.

To obtain the #1 seed in the Big West tournament, UH must do one of the following tonight:
A. Beat LBSU 3-0 or 3-1
B. Beat LBSU 3-2 and score at 4+ more points than LBSU tonight
C. Beat LBSU 3-2 and score 3 more points than LBSU tonight

In A, LBSU and UH tie in breaker #1, but UH wins breaker #2 (+1 or +2 in sets won, yielding a higher set won % for UH)
In B, LBSU and UH tie in #1 & #2, but UH wins on #3 (+1 or more in points)
In C, LBSU and UH tie in #1, #2 & #3, but UH wins on #4 (3 fewer conference set losses than LBSU, which yields a higher conference set winning % for UH)

If UH loses, LBSU is the top seed by virtue of breaker #1.

If UH wins 3-2 but fails to score at least 3 more points than LBSU (for example, if UH wins 21-25, 25-20, 25-23, 22-25, 15-13, UH would have scored 2 more points), LBSU is the top seed because of breaker #3 (in my example, LBSU would have an overall +1 advantage in points scored versus UH in the two head-to-head matches).

Option C above is the minimum result UH needs to earn the #1 tourney seed.

Hopefully not too confusing.
