I think over time, he has embraced the culture which was difficult in the beginning. He has recruited more local players than in the beginning.

I would like to acknowledge the coach for his tenure here at UH, with this being his 14th season. This is probably home for him now especially so due to raising his children here in Hawaii. If I had to guess it would take something a bit special for him to leave UH for another college coaching job. Not sure how many times his team has made the post season playoffs but when you don’t here much about off field issues of his players, it can be said he is doing a great job as a person and a coach.
