Makes sense. Could be wrong, but I recall that UO & OSU were both nothing to write home about during the 90s to early 2000s, then suddenly they became prominent in the Pac12 and nationally.

As for Oregon, two words: Phil Knight.

Bobby Curran painted a great picture of Oregon’s facilities. Nice job of narration. I could see it. All those sweat shops in Southeast Asia.

The Beavers are a true outlier, a cold-weather school with back-to-back national championships. They don’t have Nike money, and still they regularly outperform the Ducks.

Before the scandal, I was deciding between conference affiliation or local player boosterism. Now, I’m all in with Cal-State Fullerton. I am vehemently disappointed with OSU. I follow them.

The evil, EVIL…NCAA did yeoman’s work in trying to minimize the possibility of a west coast champion. First, they pitted the Titans against Long Beach State in the super-regional. It’s not like the SEC where you had eight teams to work with. A two-team bid league and yet they somehow meet each other in the intermediary round. Second, instead of reseeding, which is what they should do, Oregon State faces Cal-State Fullerton in the first game of the CWS. Baseball America and the powers that be want a SEC school to win it all. They want to keep the power in the south.

I keep returning to the 2012 Utah Valley team. They won 30 out of their last 31 games and were left out of the tournament. 47-12. They definitely deserved a chance.

How did this happen? Did Pac-12 TV money from football play a role (larger recruiting budget, better facilities, higher coaching salaries)?

Totally different topic, but read that KHON’s Taizo Barden got news from management that his contract would not be renewed while he was on vacation in Japan. Ouch!! John Veneri will replace Braden on that morning show.

20th round.

Austin Rubick was drafted in the 20th round.

I guess the signing bonus is minimal and not worth it.

What it comes down to is the player: Is he a student-athlete or an athlete/student?

Homza should sign. If he comes out slow, being a high round draft pick, you get leeway and time to develop. Kodi Medeiros would have been cut by now if he went in the 20th round.

If you’re Rubick or Cade Smith, you better start producing right away.

It’s a mystery to me as to why Breland Almadova is out of baseball.

I guess he’s gone.
