The major exception was Grace’s lunch wagon at UH (Metcalf street). In fall 1967 a plate lunch was 65 cents but rose to 70 cents before fall semester ended, I was paid $1.25/hour at Dole Cannery that summer.

Ate there every day…even when I woke up late and missed classes I would drive to UH to eat Graces’ lunch…and often went home again, skipping afternoon classes. My GPA didn’t go up, but my satisfaction and weight did. 🙂

I think you were at UH around the same time as me and ST 🙂

I did lunch at Graces’s on weekends, Pucks Alley, and of course Waikiki.

What year you grad from UH?

Did you know that Yamamoto got called up? I was just checking up on Kolten Wong’s day.

Kolten had one hit .
Jordan allowed only 3 hits, struck out 5 and walked 2 .

I wrongly predicted the major league careers of Vinnie Catricala and Matt Cooper. The jury is still out on Quintin Torres Costa.

Jordan Yamamoto? Seven shutout innings. I can’t believe it.

For some reason the number 240 is stuck in my old mind. Then I realized that it was the minimum wage in my younger days here, along with the cost of one semester of 12 credits or more at UH Manoa back in the day. Plate lunch at Graces was around $3.00 or so.
