USC blew it in 5. Hope Stanford can take Texas. Don’t think Penn State will have problems taking Mich.

    1. agree. but Florida was playing at home. reminded me of 98 when Hawaii was there and up 2-0 in regional final.
    Stanford Texas should be interesting

I think florida got some help from the refs.
Now if we can get Lanier to transfer to UH lol I’d settle for Alyse Ford.

    Penn State (1) def. Michigan State, 25-23, 25-17, 28-26

    Stanford (3) sweeps Texas (6) 25-21, 25-21, 25-21

My guess is Penn St will meet Stanford in the Final. Stanford’s 2- 6’6″ and 1- 6’8″ is just so imposing. Inky one of the their most talented is only 6’3″ ( one of the smaller starters) Penn St is strong and talented too but they are even too small against Stanford. Penn St is still big, athletic, and very dominant like most of the Final 4 teams. I will give the edge to Stanford but it should be closer than the Texas game. Nebraska could still surprise but I am still not that impressed with Florida.

6.Like you, I believe that Penn State will meet Stanford in the championship match. Note that Penn State already beat Stanford twice and has three outstanding seniors. I believe that the match will go to five sets if they play each other and whoever wins will be the team that make less mistakes. Can’t predict for sure who will win only that the revenge factor favors Stanford though that didn’t help Texas today.

    6. Inky graduated last year

Texas needs to improve their passing if they plan to stay at the top of the NCAA… they have some amazing hitters, but if you can barely get them a good set…

  10. Uncle Fester December 10, 2017 9:26 am

    Always the same teams.

Just watching the sweet sixteen and beyond. It is clear to me why a 5-10″ player won’t work out. These girls are 6-3″ and above and super fast with hops. Don’t see anymore Nikki Taylor’s on the local scene. Big and slow won’t work either.

  12. Volleyman December 10, 2017 11:15 am

    11. However, Autumn Bailey of Michigan State is a prime example of undersized but athletic. I believe she is 5’10” but has ridiculous hops and great defensive skills.

  13. Warriorfan December 10, 2017 11:23 am

    LRidiculous hops “is exaggerated
bailey is no kanani danielson, just a very smart hitter who hits high off the block and finds the seams in the block well. Hopefully Granato will improve with that as a senior.

7, 8. Gosh I missed those losses to Penn St earlier. You are right. The Revenge Factor. My fault on thinking Inky but that other girl that has that similar last name?
I appreciate all the bloggers input. Very knowledgeable

1, 2, and 3. yeah sc blew it on the fourth set and was helped on floridas second to last point (14th) in the fifth set when snyder did a jump serve ace. (should of been a foot fault as the server stepped on the line serving and that old man mick haley didnt even challenge it)

6 and 7. yeah your guess is as good as mine. if it be penn st vs stanford, it would be a super match. who takes the crown as most championships? how much of a revenge stanford wants? for stanford got a 6’6 that is plummer and 6’8 that islutz. however, for penn st got a 6’1 that is simone lee and 6’3 that is haleigh washington and they are fierce especially lee whom cumulated beating stanford as the defending national champion twice already, making them avca rank 1 and ncaa seed 1.

  16. Brandon December 11, 2017 12:26 pm

Snyder did NOT foot fault, I have rewatched the match on HD, at 1/4 the normal speed, and she did not foot fault, it was a clean serve

    Final 4 Appearances/Champion/Runnerup/Semifinalist

    *Stanford 21/7/8/5
    *Nebraska 14/4/3/6
    *Penn St 13/7/3/2
    UCLA 12/4/4/4
    Texas 12/2/4/6
    USC 10/3/1/6
    Hawaii 9/3/2/4
    *Florida 8/0/1/6
    Long Beach St 8/3/2/3
    Pacific 7/2/1/4
    Minnesota 5/0/1/4

If Texas had been in Florida’s bracket and beat them (instead of losing to Stanford)… IMO it would have been ALL of the usual suspects of the past 15 years or so.

  18. Robin December 11, 2017 2:57 pm

BTW, Yes I know UCLA won it all just a few years ago…and USC a few in the 2000’s (April Ross years), but the dominant ‘hey-days’ of the CA schools (including LBSU and Pacific) as well as Hawaii were concentrated in the 80’s and 90’s.

  19. blunite December 11, 2017 6:21 pm

Stanford has trouble with fast offenses, UCLA beat them twice. (Hello, Russ Rose.) Stanford swept Penn State early this season.

Difficult to master but unstoppable, the fast offense was used by Kanoe Kamana’o; who set UH to an undefeated regular season. (This pre-dated Karch Kiraly’s and Mike Sealy’s implementations.)

  20. Brandon December 11, 2017 6:30 pm

    19. Ummm Stanford beat UCLA both times this year, and Penn State Beat stanford in 3 and 5 sets respectively.

  21. blunite December 11, 2017 8:29 pm

My bad, looked at last year’s schedule.
