Warriors tied for No. 3 in poll

Undefeated Hawaii moved up a spot in today’s AVCA Division I-II Men’s Volleyball Top 15.

The Rainbow Warriors (6-0), receiving one first-place vote, are tied with defending national champion Ohio State (3-2, 1 vote) for third; the Buckeyes, who lost to UCLA in five on Saturday, had been alone at No. 3 the past two weeks.

Remaining at No. 1 was Long Beach State (7-0, 23 votes) while the Bruins (7-0, 1 vote) stayed at No. 2.

Hawaii hosts UCLA in nonconference matches Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. The Warriors are coming off a bye week while the Bruins won the AVCA Showcase with a 3-1 win over then-No. 9 Penn State and the five-setter against Ohio State.

UCLA holds a 63-29 lead in the series with Hawaii. The Warriors are 9-4 since 2013, including two four-set wins last year in Los Angel

Let’s see if Hawai’i can pull another victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes. That would be a good ketchup game to watch.

I remember Hawai’i was always a national #1 contender. Since way back in 1993. Mark Presho

Tickets for volleyball matches are set at adults, $ per ticket. I hope they have not changed it yet.

Watching the game on livestat as always. SSC

Also, I don’t remember that magic show in Waikiki.

Lastly for the night, I don’t remember working at Stripsteaks, International Waikiki Marketplace, 3rd level floor, opened in 2016, August 25. 1st day.

    Yep. Covered it all.

I also don’t remember June Jones eating at that magic show in Waikiki, about 2005. They were very busy and UH hosted the whole football team for free. Comp statistics. $88 dollars per ticket. Drinks only.

I am really excited about these weekend matches. I also would not mind if I never saw another comment from KOH I NOR. If you think you are funny, your Not!

Watching the men’s team inspires; yet, reminds me of what the women’s team used to be like. Now, it is like night and day.

Uncertain if Wahine volleyball revenues will improve if the outside hitters continue to “flatline” as happened last year. Improvement is one thing, but after 3 years the writing is on the table.

Gonna have trouble calling Shoji “The Master” after THIS one. He needed to butt the heck out:

But Dru Brown handled it with more class than Dave wished he still had:

Apologize to Dru on Twitter “Coach.” You had time to get the real story about Dru (I mean. You’re retired and all). I’d do a “Hey Coach. UH has paid you tons. Now for your sons Stanford?” quip. But I won’t

Congrats to the men’s team! Keep it up.

Cindy, any word on the Sandbows? I see there are no indoor players on the roster anymore. Any word on pairs? Who’s in the running for the top pairs? Anyone redshirting? Any newcomers in the top lineup?

Warriors will now play Academy United (National Volleyball Assn) in next week’s tournament, replacing Sacred Heart. Roster includes Spencer McLachlin, Riley McKibben, Taylor Crabb, & Fred Stahl. Assuming this game won’t count in their record.

R14 he’s entitled to his opinion and he just stated facts I don’t see what’s classless

UCLA made a ton of service errors this past weekend but they go for it , so Uh passers will have to be ready , especially Stijn.
Gasman needs to step it up he’s off to a rather slow start, Rado also needs to make less errors.

Is the two games gonna be televised this weekend?

    10. yeah, not sure what’s going on.
    14. not sure why you had an issue with Shoji. It was the truth.
    15. had a story on the sandbows last week. guess you missed it.
only crossover is Maglio but she’s done now with indoor.
only one they had thought would come over is Castillo but she decided not to. the other seniors thought about it but Anderson way too busy with med school stuff and Guinasso has other things she wanted to get finished with.
    19. yes
