U.S. men’s team updated schedule, Masui Allen
The U.S. men’s national volleyball team, has revised its training and match schedule for later this month.
Expected to be among those training at ‘Iolani School on July 26 are Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani), Erik Shoji (Punahou) and Micah Christenson (Kamehameha).
The matches are scheduled for July 27 at Kamehameha at 7 p.m. and July 28 at Kalani at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.
The U.S. advanced in the FIVB Volleyball Nations League on Thursday with a sweep of reigning world champion Poland in Lille, France.The 28-26, 25-17, 25-18 victory sent the U.S. into today’s semifinals against Russia.
Wrote an obituary for Masui Allen. Not sure when it will run. Got to reconnect with Allen Allen, Jason Olive and Mike Wilton. Olive wrote an extensive tribute that I will share later.

USA had just lost a five-game heartbreaker to France in the VNL semifinal. They fought back so valiantly after having been down two sets. The last three sets were won by only two points, third and fourth by USA and the fifth, by France. So now USA will face Brazil in the bronze medal match.
A day later and that’s today, Sunday, USA defeated Brazil in three sets to win the VNL bronze medal, while Russia beat France in three sets to win the VNL gold.
