Eight doubleheaders for UH hoops teams

Compared to last season, the UH men’s and women’s basketball teams will double up on their doubleheaders in the upcoming season.

The Rainbow Warriors and Rainbow Wahine are scheduled to share dates eight times this season, six times at the Stan Sheriff Center and twice more during a Big West road trip to UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge in early February.

The UH teams played four regular-season doubleheaders last season, two during the nonconference schedule and two in the Big West season. Of course, the final day of the Big West tournament turned out to be their most memorable twinbill of the season when both teams claimed conference titles and NCAA tournament berths.

This season’s slate of doubleheaders starts Nov. 18 with the Rainbow Wahine home opener against Youngstown State followed the Rainbow Warriors matchup with North Carolina.

UH will host Big West doubleheaders on Jan. 28 (women vs. Cal Poly, men vs. UC Santa Barbara) and Feb. 11 (women vs. UC Santa Barbara, men vs. UC Irvine).
