  4. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:04 pm

  5. Brandon Yoshikawa August 30, 2018 7:11 pm

Casey the most improved player IMO. She’s hitting so much smarter and harder this year

  6. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:16 pm

Williams with the ace. UH up 13-9. TO CC

  7. warriorwahine August 30, 2018 7:18 pm

    UH on a 4-0 run, it’s 13-9. TO CC

  14. Brandon Yoshikawa August 30, 2018 7:44 pm

Liva hits probably the hardest on the team, but she just needs to hit smarter. But she’s working off that rust from not playing for a while so it’s understandable

  15. Savich August 30, 2018 7:44 pm

Is that Scott Robbs calling it at 1420 AM radio ESPN?

WE usually hear Bobby Curran and Jon Veneri, Phillipe Ohusko. Football. Tonight it is that guy. I think.

It like Wahines got this match in the suitcase. And I’ll say good bye for the night. Back to the radio.

  16. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:50 pm

Coastal closes to 19-16. TO UH

  17. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:51 pm

    15. no, Scott has not done radio for some 8 years. That is Tiff Wells

  18. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:52 pm

    14. think Granato hits a heavier ball than Liva but Liva has an interesting armswing that can throw off the block.

  19. Cindy Luis August 30, 2018 7:55 pm

Coastal tied it at 19. Uh with a kill by Granato and a Coastal hitting error makes it 21-19. TO Coastal

  20. warriorwahine August 30, 2018 7:58 pm

speaking of national player of the year as a frosh..anyone know elena ogilvie committed to?

  29. Z August 30, 2018 8:39 pm

    Way to go Wahine.

  30. Savich August 30, 2018 8:41 pm

5,099 in attendance at SSC. A lot of fans for a Thurday night. That is good for the department. On Saturday the fans will be at Aloha Stadium. All 40,000 fans there. Starting at 5:00 p.m.

  31. warriorwahine August 30, 2018 8:47 pm

so from nice hands, nasty serve to….hits a heavy ball??

  32. Ashley August 30, 2018 8:59 pm

still some kinks to work on, BUT some great improvements i must say. i enjoy watching Norene hitting the ball. great jobs tonight girls.

  33. Astroboy August 30, 2018 9:07 pm

All I can say is that Tita Akiu is pure gold, what a find to get her on the team. And tonight looked like that diversified attack we keep talking about but never seemed to pull off. I couldn’t decide if Coastal was out of system or out of gas.

  34. warriorwahine August 30, 2018 9:12 pm

    32. i like seeing norene hitting a heavy ball. but i also like more to see her get some aces.

  35. warriorwahine August 30, 2018 9:39 pm

    31. i think i answered it maybe before

    #iosiaattackingsetter

  36. roygbivs August 30, 2018 9:45 pm

Was in attendance @ tonight’s game.

Noticed RAMS playing close-to-the-vest, has started all her starters for all 3games. Would like to her experiment/tinker her lineup like has Shoji would for game 3. Help develop the depth I think would help in the long run.

  37. Bleachercoach August 30, 2018 10:12 pm

    38. I agree. I would like to see Ross when healthy again play some back row instead of Rika sometimes because I know Ross can contribute offensively too. Rika made some spectacular digs tonite especially the one where she performed the ‘splits’
I can see the dilemma Coach Robyn has in substituting because its really hard to find one player that offers that total package.
They see the players day in and day out so they know! Its just so hard for me and some fans to see Sibley, Ross, and Burns tonite or any other nite not being able to contribute. But like Maafala said in her post game interview, ” This team loves each other whether playing in the game or standing up supporting their teammates. They love each other that much!” I guess that settles it.

  38. H-Man August 30, 2018 10:28 pm

Congratulations to the Wahine for the sweeping win, but still not sure how good they are. Coastal Carolina seemed out of sync. Agree with Bleachercoach that it’s hard to see Burns, Sibley not part of rotation. Casteneda looks good in warm ups. Probably red-shirt so next year. Same for Howling. Future looks good for Wahine.

  39. H-Man August 30, 2018 10:38 pm

Kudos to UH Athletics’ parking for making it easy to exit to H1. It was smooth, easy and safe.

  40. HawaiiMongoose August 31, 2018 3:43 am

Move Liva to OH, let Williams and Burns handle the MB duties and return Iosia to setting full time. Just my two cents.

  41. islandman August 31, 2018 6:49 am

Coastal got to Hawaii on Wednesday not that early and maybe were still getting their legs back last night. Nemeth maybe had stage fright but she may come out playing better tonight.
Would also like to see Burns, Sibley and the others in there, though some of them did play in the match vs Kansas St. Is Howling cleared to play ?
Norene is really good at hitting so far. She has the highest hitting Pct after Burns and has the 2nd most kills, so far.
Good to see Gaskin get some kills.

  42. Ron August 31, 2018 7:34 am

This reminds me of the good old days when we kept digging their best shots until they got tired and we finally put it down. I still don’t like the 6-2. Norene maybe our best player but she is still the best setter and we need her in that position. I can say that Granato looked great with the tip shots and Castillo came on like gangbusters at the end. It is fun to win!

  43. noblesol August 31, 2018 1:50 pm

As long a Ma’afala isn’t rotating through the front row, this offense and lineup can work. It is attempting to maximize ball control so they can run an offense. Have to be able to do that o/w larger more athletic teams are going to block them off the court.

Somehow Faith wound up in the front row against KSU, and it was like no blocker at all against their big hitters, and they were already going over the top against most of the rest. Last night, that didn’t happen.

I’m not a fan of Iosia hitting, but not because she isn’t doing a great job at it. I’m wondering how it will impact focus and fatigue in long close matches. Hoping for the best though, it’s fun to watch her banging away, tooling, and being effective.

  44. Rabbit ears August 31, 2018 3:49 pm

#40 Great Idea. Liva to outside. Needs Burns on the court. Go back to 5-1 with Noreen. Agree with you. Also Akiu and Okino were money last night.

  45. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 6:38 pm

    27. Liva was at HPU for basketball. She didn’t know she had a year of eligibility left but discovered that she did last spring. Was hanging around men’s practice with her brother Isaac. Decided to give it a shot in spring.

  46. Cindy Luis August 31, 2018 6:40 pm

    http://www.hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=46599
    new thread up for Friday.
    41. Coastal had a long day, bussed from Atlanta to Charlotte, flew to JFK, had a 2-hour delay there then direct to HNL
As for the lineup, they aren’t done tweaking it. I don’t see Liva to OH.
Iosia is a viable option on the right. With Gaskin never having been in the passing rotation, they need someone who can.
They now are asking Akiu to pass half the court in a 2-person passing rotation. Thought she did a very good job adjusting to that.
