Green-White scrimmage is Friday 3-5 p.m. at arena. Admission is free. Not sure if there will be a parking fee. It is a state holiday.
No concessions open and no outside food allowed.

Rise of the Wahine, a film that focuses on UH volleyball and Title IX, has been updated and re-edited. There are showing it Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at Hawaii Theater. More info to come.

Team only had one practice this morning. They were spending the afternoon in Waimanalo. Believe the football team is there. It’s a farm owned by former Wahine Mahina Eleneki Hugo. There will be goats (for real, on the farm).

How have Okino and Gong been doing? Do you think they will contribute?

If there are no consessions and no outside food, will they allow empty reusable water bottles? Their policy is to collect bottles when you enter the arena. In addition, many of the water fountains in the arena do not work (as of the end of the Mens VB season). Seems like they need to do some work on those and making their policies a bit more environmentally friendly.

My guess is they are discouraging people from eating because they will be no clean up crew after the scrimmage. This is just a glorified practice. I suggest fans just eat before coming in or leave the food in the car and when there is a break between sets, go run to your car and eat.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask fans to be considerate and not eat. If you have to eat, just go out eat and come back in. You are not being charged for admission and you can freely go in and out.

This match also means nothing so fans shouldn’t worry about missing some actions.

I do hope fans just be polite and follow rules. If there are constant complaining or fans not being compliant and dirtying up the areana, Robyn may just not open these matches up to fans in the future and just have closed scrimmages. This is kind of a “gift” to the Wahine fans so we should be thankful for the chance to watch. I know I am very thankful.

    3. Very well said.

    1. as have mentioned, it’s hard to gauge when mostly doing drills. there have been some 6-on-6 and the two you mention are in the mix. I could see both as situational serving subs but think Akiu will be at libero. and Ma’afala brings so much leadership that you can see you back there if the passing and serve receive goes south.

    2. i think bringing in a water bottle would be OK. Was unaware that the water fountains aren’t working. will mention that to the arena manager.
    3. yes, that is part of the reason. No cleaning crew available.

Please keep Okino’s serve locked up. Worst server ever. She’s very good otherwise.

How come women’s volleyball and soccer get only about 16 days of preseason before the first game while football and basketball get 29 days ?

    3. Well said, Kahuna. I hope there won’t be the usual few who have no regard for others that they’ll ruin it for the rest of us.

Even if it is practice, I’m still eager to see Angel and Akiu perform.

    GO BOWS!

7 As I mentioned in a recent story that AhMow-Santos questioned it as well
It is an arbitrary number of days decided upon by the NCAA
