Maglio’s Canada team loses in semifinals, Anderson nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year

Former University of Hawaii middle blocker Emily Maglio had four kills and a block but it was not enough as Canada lost to the U.S. 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19 in the Pan American Cup women’s volleyball tournament on today in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Canada will face Brazil for third place Saturday.
Playing for the U.S. at outside hitter is Utah All-American Adora Anae, a Kahuku High graduate who had seven kills, four blocks and two aces on Friday. The U.S. faces the Dominican Republic Saturday for the championship.

Also former Rainbow Wahine defensive specialist Clare-Marie Anderson is among the record 581 female college athletes nominated for the 2018 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
The award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.
