Is anyone having any luck with the video stream?

  2. Sneezy October 20, 2018 4:15 pm

1 – same here. I noticed the match isn’t even listed on today’s events on the bigwest streaming site.

It sounds ugly already for Fullerton.

  3. T103 October 20, 2018 4:19 pm

The video stream said I (maybe we?) are in a block out place for streaming, said I (we?) can go to a certain website for streaming from spectrum? I’m listening online. Yikes I started feeling really bad wen it was 17-0 UH.

  4. The Green Roof October 20, 2018 4:22 pm

It was reminding me of when Ally Longo went on that tear a few years ago!

  5. Ashley October 20, 2018 4:23 pm

    leading by 20+…..OUCH!

  6. The Green Roof October 20, 2018 4:24 pm

    (Sorry, “Ali”)

  7. T103 October 20, 2018 4:25 pm

@greenroof oh yea, that right, she almost served a perfect game haha almost broke the record, I think it was like 20 serves in a row? That was CRAZY!

  8. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 4:34 pm

1-7. as mentioned updates in original box. Not crazy about this format but it is what we are using.
Hawaii up 10-5 in Set 2. They’ve used 12 of the 14 players on the travel roster

  9. greenthumb October 20, 2018 4:38 pm

So bigwest.tv is tweeting video difficulties so nothing will be streamed. Stealth switched the direct link to the match to the search page. Not going to sink to their level and type what I’m thinking.

But am seriously wondering what consequences there are for this. Just the latest in the conference’s comedy of errors.

  10. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 4:42 pm

    9. Well there’s always radio.

  11. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 4:43 pm

Castaneda with her first career kill, then her second UH up 21-7 in Set 2

  12. Big Island volleyball fan October 20, 2018 5:00 pm

Update from the Cal Poly – Long Beach match: after Cal Poly won the first set 25-19, Long Beach won the second set, 25-20. Cal Poly seems to be in disarray. After the UH – Fullerton match is over, UH fans might want to watch the Cal Poly – Long Beach match. It is possible that Long Beach could upset Cal Poly unless the latter rights the ship.

  13. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:02 pm

Hawaii trailed 6-2, it’s now 8-6 on an ace by Ma’afala.

  14. T103 October 20, 2018 5:04 pm

Never thought I’d say this but…. “GO BEACH GO!” LOL.

  15. Don October 20, 2018 5:08 pm

9 & 10. More evidence of the conference bias against Hawaii this season. This will be confirmed if the conference sends the R1 and/or R2 from the match @ Cal poly to Hawaii for Friday’s rematch in Manoa.

  16. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:08 pm

Will update Big West scores after UH match.

  17. Ashley October 20, 2018 5:16 pm

next up, Poly. cannot wait for this rematch.

  18. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:17 pm

    Sibley’s kill ends it 25-13

  19. Big Island volleyball fan October 20, 2018 5:26 pm

Cal Poly came out revived in the third set and did better than the first two, though at the end Long Beach gained momentum. It will be interesting to see what transpires in the fourth set. Anyone watching?

  20. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:50 pm

No surprise Beach running on empty. this is their fourth match in eight days, starting with their match at Hawaii last Saturday. They lose Set 4 25-16
The Big West scheduling has not favored the 49ers and especially not the Wahine.

  21. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:52 pm

At UC Davis, Aggies up 2-1 on UC Irvine. 23-23 in the fourth

  23. Big Island volleyball fan October 20, 2018 5:55 pm

    20. Not to mention that the Beach was taken to five sets yesterday by UCSB. So you’re right, Beach was running on empty the last two sets. I’ll leave it up to you to update the scores. Won’t mention anything more about that match.

As for next week, anything can happen between Cal Poly and UH. Wouldn’t be surprised if it went to five sets again. It will be anybody’s game.

  24. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 5:57 pm

At CSUN, Matadors up 2-1 over UCSB. Gauchos lead 16-14 in the fourth
    Ruddins 16 kills, 39 swings 1 error.

  25. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:00 pm

    23. You are welcome to comment. Was just saying a while ago that I didn’t have time to update Big West scores until after the Wahine match was done.

  26. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:01 pm

at UCD, Aggies had match point at 25-24. Anteaters win Set 4 28-26. On to Set 5

  27. Bleachercoach October 20, 2018 6:01 pm

UC Davis beats UC Irvine in 4….Yes!!!!

  28. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:07 pm

    27. No, if you see No. 26, it is in the fifth. Davis up 5-1

  29. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:09 pm

Also in Set 5, UCSB at CSUN. Matadors up 3-2

  30. Bleachercoach October 20, 2018 6:18 pm

Wow sorry about that …the stats on the match showed the opposite on set 4….anyways UC Davis up big in set 5…

  31. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:19 pm

UC Davis Takes Set 5, 15-7
UCSB up 12-9 in Set 5 at CSUN

  32. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:35 pm

UCSB takes Set 5 20-18 at CSUN

  33. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 6:40 pm

    Big West scores
    Hawaii def. CSU Fullerton, 25-3, 25-14, 25-13
    No. 12 Cal Poly def. Long Beach State, 25-19, 20-25, 25-16, 25-16
    UCSB def. CSUN, 19-25, 25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 20-18
    UC Davis def. UC Irvine, 22-25, 25-15, 25-18, 26-28, 15-7

  34. Big Island volleyball fan October 20, 2018 7:04 pm

I’ll take the liberty to comment now. UCSB vs. CSUN ending was the most dramatic. Seemed like the two video challenges almost took longer than the fifth set. This time Ruddins with her 25 points was the key player to win the match. For the fans on either side, it was truly a nail-biter. I was surprised, though, that Rick Olmstead overruled the line judge and called Owen’s spike in, thus prolonging the match instead of allowing UCSB to win the match at that point. That despite him being a former UCSB high Icoach of Karch Kiraly. He showed no favoritism here, being fair and square. Coach Welch tried to challenge the call but no evidence could be shown to justify an overturn. It was definitely the most interesting match of the night.

  35. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 7:26 pm

    34. At least the video was working there. Also issues for BigWest.TV at UC Davis.
Rick has been doing this so long. Why would him coaching Kiraly in high school in the 1970s matter? It was Santa Barbara High, not UCSB High.
From Kiraly’s bio: He has credited his high school coach, Rick Olmstead, for teaching him the value of hard work and dedication.

  36. Ashley October 20, 2018 7:29 pm

UCSB beat CSUN, not the other way around

  37. Cindy Luis October 20, 2018 8:11 pm

    36. thanks. I typed in the wrong teams in the scores. had the right one in 32.

  38. greenthumb October 20, 2018 9:03 pm

8, re the new additive format — totally understand that it is a new procedure to be followed. However, is there any chance feedback might be considered about the flow?

Specifically, from the perspective of a subscriber and fan who likes to hang out on the blog along with watching/listening to the event: the Warrior Beat blogs are adding updates to the top of the original posts. This risks unpleasant surprises if we click through to a blog, because the latest info is right up top.

If the updates were added to the bottom of the main text box instead, the flow would still be chronological. Thanks.

  39. OrbitalRipZ October 20, 2018 9:24 pm

Should be an interesting RPI Monday for the Bows. Working against Hawaii’s RPI will be their playing (never mind the Ws) the Big West’s horrific bottom feeders (RPI #251 and RPI #294)!

Working in favor of improving Hawaii’s RPI are: [1] Kansas State’s Ws over RPI #19 Kansas and RPI #24 Baylor; [2] Pepperdine playing (even though it’s a L) against #2 RPI BYU; and [3] Oregon playing (hope it’s an upset) against #1 RPI Stanford as Hawaii’s opponents’ results count just as much as Hawaii’s opponents’ opponent (Stanford and BYU) results.

But I think we’re all on the same page now. The RPI will not move Hawai’i into “bubble” status for at-large consideration by the Selection Committee. It’s win the automatic berth or become just another “could have, would have, should have” team complaining about being unceremoniously snobbed by the NCAA.

    Go Bows!

  40. Sheila October 21, 2018 6:58 am

45 in previous thread, remember Skyler (recently), Nikky Taylor was sitting out…Making certain that all key players keeping healthy (particularly, those prone for injury) should be part of strategy.

  41. Sheila October 21, 2018 7:41 am

Wonder weather wahines will have answers for: 1) Tory van Winden’s backrow attack? 2) Adlees’ cute angle attack from front. 3) their combination attack? 4) their well camouflage tipover? 5) their formidable block? Hmmm frightening…

  42. Hot October 21, 2018 7:42 am

    Why didn’t Gong travel?

  43. Big Island volleyball fan October 21, 2018 8:28 pm

    15. If you want a fair ref, pray that Rick Olmstead will come to Manoa to ref this most crucial Big West match. I mentioned him in blog #34.

    35. Sorry about my error again. I did mean high school, but my mind was on UCSB. Second error posting of the day. Thanks for catching my errors.

    39. No upset there, Stanford beat Oregon in four sets today. I see that it was shown on ESPN2. Maybe you can view a replay on ESPN3 online.

    41. You analyzed Cal Poly pretty well. The Cal Poly’s sole loss was to #6 Pittsburgh in five sets, the only other undefeated team beside BYU. The Beach managed to take a set from Cal Poly at the Pyramid and so did Hawaii at their home court which only UCLA managed to do both times. This time UH will have the home court advantage, so it’s not a foregone conclusion.

  44. Brandon Yoshikawa October 22, 2018 12:32 am

Cal poly lost in four to pittsburgh and got pretty much dominated besides that first set

  45. Cindy Luis October 22, 2018 9:45 am

    http://www.hawaiiwarriorworld.com/?p=47237
    new thread up with RPI.
    42. don’t know as mentioned previously. Was told all 15 going when I saw them Tuesday. They left Wednesday
    44. first road trip of season when they were running a 6-2, have since switched to a 5-1
    38. not crazy about the format but it is what we’ve been told to do.
will pass along your comments. Thank you for weighing in
