Back to Gym 1 Friday

(SATURDAY NOTE: oops, sorry, just noticed I had not moved this from drafts yesterday).

After a cool practice in the arena Thursday, Wahine were back to Gym 1 for last double sessions. Saturday will be single one that is part of the scrimmage in the arena. Scrimmage is closed except for boosters and family.
We should get a better idea, maybe, of what they’ll put out as far as a lineup next Friday. Or maybe not. When speaking with Ah Mow-Santos, she has an idea for the starters but she says it could always change.

About the only set positions, no surprise, are Iosia at setter, Kahakai at libero and Maglio in the middle. Ma’afala was taking reps at setter but a slight injury has Koelsch taking reps at setter as well as the outside.
Granato, Ross, Sibley, Castillo all in the mix at outside. Lipscomb slowed by injury and they haven’t seen enough of her to judge.
Some thought of putting Castillo in the middle just to start Friday. Ah Mow-Santos said she had talked with Castillo about not moving her back there but team might need her and Castillo says she is fine with that. Whatever the team needs.

Anderson likely the first serving sub.

Wahine coaching staff very involved in practice. At times Ah Mow-Santos is setting the second side as they work on blocking drills with Baster and Castello taking some pretty had swings. Digging those bombs cause for celebration and Iosia’s dig of Baxter ended the first session on a good note.

Anyway, not a lot to dissect. still a lot of skill drills. The focus is being good all-around players.

Will try to do live blog Saturday from scrimmage.
