In pursuit of new Warriors

C’mon, you didn’t think Rolo could just sit behind a desk?

During this contact period that runs through Dec. 16, Rolo has been out recruiting, spending this past week on the mainland.

Unlike the spring, where only the assistant coaches can do in-person recruiting, head coaches are permitted to do home visits.

Rolo and all his full-time assistants have been out on the recruiting trail, with half here and the rest off island.

UH expects a significant number of commitments for the early-signing period that begins Dec. 20.

  2. ai-eee-soos December 7, 2017 10:34 am

Aw right – sign em up !!!

  3. ai-eee-soos December 7, 2017 10:37 am

And I hope Rolo can sign his OL Coach before the 20th,

as he stated on the Nick Rolovich Show.

    ST: any hints yet?

I heard, fourth hand, there’s an offer on the table to a coach.

  5. ai-eee-soos December 7, 2017 11:12 am

I hope that Coach Cav is still available.

I think his home is in Oregon.

The new Ore State coach has hired a “Run game coordinator/

    OL coach”.

I don’t think the new Oregon coach has been named yet – they

might be looking for an OL coach.

Awright ! Good news ! Anxiously waiting for the 20th.

    ST:

hope your last sentence in your opening is correct — gives us a look into the future and some may be able to contribute from 2018

also hope that the current players, including red-shirts, have adopted the realization that they must continue training immediately — time will tell who were committed and who were not.

with your post that ALL coaches are out recruiting leaves a somewhat empty feeling that there will be NO changes among Rolo’s staff.

if so, there must be significant changes to developing schemes that will be effective in practice and games.

    jus’ MHO!

    Howzit Tsaikos!
I don’t let what I can’t control bother me. Rolo has control of the team and I don’t so I’ll just be a fan and support the team through thick and thin.
    Go Warriors!

Maddog 50 …A lot of new offers out for recruits recently. That tells me one thing, we ain’t getting any of the initial offers that were put out.

  15. Maddog50 December 7, 2017 3:32 pm

Warbow you can look at it that way-I prefer that if you can’t give us a nod now we will find like kind and quality who can-with new early signing period some guys are gonna big time themselves out of the deal. Remember non-qualifiers can’t be back filled

Gotta get DC! PUT LS back d line

I believe that Rolo will play this hand, with the addition of filling the two open slots. It will be an interesting start to the next season. How is he going to convince the departed fan base that this vs will be different? I feel that if he plays this hand and starts Dru, if he does not blow out the first two opponents, it will be an uphill battle putting buns in seats.

He’s the coach and the decision maker. He knows what he wants and who can best help him get there. As fans we can voice our thoughts but the buck stops with him. Let’s just see what unfolds and remain supportive.

A nice present this Christmas would be if Mackenzie Milton decides to transfer to UH.

  21. RonaldPMA December 8, 2017 10:16 am

Mackenzie Milton WAS at UH. Let him get away.

  22. Maddog50 December 8, 2017 10:20 am

I like the current group of QBs including the two incoming. What is neede is obvious 10-12 guys who can protect them and speed/talent at receiver. Some young guys are sneaky possession type guys which you need but burners who are athletic and can catch-we need some. Right now biggest need is OL and building the D from the middle out-GoWarriors!

  23. z December 8, 2017 10:43 am

What we need is speed. On defense I think that we will be better in the middle but like Rolo said we need pass rushers. I want them to chase us to the endzone.

    Find that 50-50 receiver.

  24. suckkabooya December 8, 2017 11:04 am

On defense there was bad technique all last season, especially with containment, shedding blocks and open field tackling. You can accept getting beat by being out classed (like Boise usually does to us) but it’s harder to accept it when we are beating ourselves by giving up the big play. In my opinion we have good, capable players, we just need a little more effort and accountability by both players and COACHES. I believe they can do it. Meet Expectation. Play Warrior.
