Ganot’s ongoing quest

Eran Ganot continues to put his money where his mouth is when it comes to the Coaches vs. Cancer movement.

UH basketball has its next CvsC fundraiser lined up, and it’s next Wednesday (6:30 to 8 p.m.) at the Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach. It’s $100 per person to attend.

Besides Ganot, Hall of Fame coach Mike Montgomery (the father of UH assistant John) will be there, plus to-be-determined coaches in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.

There will be a live taping of the Hoops Talk radio show with Jeff Portnoy and Jackson Wheeler.

Two days after that, UH faces Miami (up to No. 6, yikes!) to open the Diamond Head Classic.

But first, UH (6-2) hosts Utah Valley (7-4) at 5 p.m. Sunday. The Wolverines are coming off a record-setting 106-44 win over Bethesda of the National Christian College Athletic Association. (Bethesda stunned CSUN at the Matadome last year.) UVU hit a program-record 43 field goals on 35 assists, another record.
