As for the SandBows, spoke with Hall today. He has set his pairs but isn’t sure in which flights. said all are capable of beating each other. Looking forward to opening the season. That will be against Stanford and UCLA on Feb. 24 at Ching.

Pairs are in no particular order:
Morgan Martin-Laurel Weaver, Emily Maglio-Ka’iwi Schucht, Carly Kan-Lea Monkhouse, Amy Ozee-Ari Homayun, Allyssah Fitterer-Hannah Zalopany. No. 6 probably Hi’ilawe Huddleston-Paige Dreeuws.
Here’s roster if you need more info.

Thanks for the update on the Sand Bows Cindy!

My guess the number 1 is between Maglio and Schucht and Martin and Weaver. The 3 and 4 position is likely between Monkhouse and Kan and over and Homayun. And I am guessing Zalopany and Fitterer at 5.

Would like to have seen Huddleston crack the top 5.

Maybe Hall will switch teams around a little based on the match-ups of opposition.

The Big west alone looks to be competitive this season!

True freshman Lea Monkhouse cracking the flight with all the talent we have on this team is impressive. Morgan Martin did that last year and now Lea is doing it.

We do have a lot of seniors on this team so this better be the year we win it all.

my #19 from last post – I was thinking of the 2015 Outrigger Tournament. Ohio St & Penn St couldn’t stay till Sunday, only Irvine could stay. From what I heard, Charlie submitted the request in June but Gib pitched a fit and Ben Jay caved, so the tournament had to go Thu, Fri, Sun.

re: Alumni Game – as a season ticket holder, the game isn’t included. will it be free, or will I have to buy a separate ticket?

This Sand Team is really impressive. They are deep with talent. IMO #3, #4, and #5 should be the Best Flights in the Big West and even Nationally. Stacking our #3 to #5 is great for our Team Win, although any of these lower flights could easily compete and beat our #1 and #2’s…We have an awesome problem. Every Flight can beat each other on any given day. I personally think Monkhouse and Kan could be the BEST Flight as a pair…They are so athletic!

Congrats to my San Diego beach volleyball nieces: Ka’iwi, Hi’ilawe and Paige. To my other SD vb nieces: Chloe, Pani, Sydney and Cali keep on training hard.
Lunch on me at In-N-Our Burger when you come to the Mainland.

From what I’ve gathered there are only two teams that seem to be in the running for number 1 based on daily competitions, but we’ll see. I would bet it’s either Martin and Weaver or Maglio and Schucht.

very surprised at no napolean in top 6 pairs she was really impressive in fall training, dreuews now ahead of her,are they redshirting Napoleon?

  8. Kahuna February 6, 2018 6:47 pm

I believe I read somewhere that Pani and Ashley Stevens are redshirting. Don’t know if it’s Hall’s call or Pani’s but maybe Pani doesn’t want to waste a year playing on the 6th flight. With 5 senior(6 if Maglio does not comeback) Pani will have a crack at playing at a higher flight next year. Just a guess…no inside knowledge.

Re: Ferd’s column this morning – He didn’t mention MVB. Is it the same for MVB? How was it before?

    9. I would think UH did not have to pay travel subsidies when in the MPSF and don’t have to pay in the new BW MVB conference.
