With CSUN and UCI winning tonight, Hawaii can only be the No. 2 or No. 4 seed.
Warriors win, they will be No. 2 with the tiebreaker over UCI; Warriors lose, they tie with CSUN for third and lose the tiebreaker

    1. Long Beach State. 5 UCSB. 6. UCSD

  11. Big Island volleyball fan April 14, 2018 7:20 pm

    5. Wouldn’t it make sense that #1 would play the winner of #4 and# 5 and #2 would play the winner of #3 and #6? I guess you have it reverse. Hope Cindy will answer your question and give the right answer.

  12. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 7:24 pm

SVT & Gasman with a block of Ensing. UH up 15-13 at the TTO

  13. Don April 14, 2018 7:25 pm

    11. That’s what I was asking..the BW site is confusing about the tourney…

  15. Don April 14, 2018 7:33 pm

  16. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 7:36 pm

After going 7=0-8, DeFalco blocked twice by Worsley, Gasman and Rosenmeier. it’s 23-20. TO Beach

  17. Don April 14, 2018 7:37 pm

No matter…TJ stuffed twice and getting upset, grabbing the net. CARD HIM NOW!!’

  22. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:01 pm

Ensing with the kill, puts Beach up 15-13 at the TTO

  23. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:11 pm

SVT blocked. Beach up 20-16. TO UH. Not sure why there was a stoppage. Perhaps someone who is watching on TV has an answer.

  24. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:13 pm

As for the stoppage, it was Escoresheet being used had a malfunction.

  25. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:16 pm

Yeah, Gasman could have been called for a double But Tuaniga’s set was pretty ugly on the previous play. Gasman to Worsley makes it 22-19. TO Beach

  26. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:20 pm

Ensing ends it 25-22. up ref letting a lot go.

  27. Don April 14, 2018 8:25 pm

  29. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:41 pm

UH wins challenge UH up 9-7

  30. Kahuna April 14, 2018 8:41 pm

Too bad Maglio decided not to use her senior year at beach. I guess for her it’s time to move on. Being in school for 5 years is not for everybody. Could be financial too. Beach is not fully funded so Em is going to probably need financial assistance if she plays an extra year of beach without the indoor scholarship.

Leaving college without a debt would be a win.

    Good luck to Emily.

Gasman with a kill, UH up 15-14 at the TTO

  33. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:49 pm

    30. Maglio had a scholarship for next year. Beach is fully funded at 6 scholarships. Hall can divvy up as he sees fit.

  34. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:52 pm

    Beach up 17-16. TO UH

  35. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 8:57 pm

    Beach up 21-18. TO UH

  36. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 9:00 pm

UH out of subs, they’ll have to go with what they have on the floor. Warriors close to 21-20. TO Beach

  37. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 9:05 pm

SVT called for Net violation on the attack. Beach wins 25-23

  38. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 9:06 pm

    Net violations/service errors
Mental errors kill this team in crucial
Points, from two possible all americans too.

  39. Big Island volleyball fan April 14, 2018 9:09 pm

    38. I guess it is nerves. There is too much at stake and they want this win badly and are trying too hard. I know from my own experience that whenever I felt pressure I’d miss serves and I wasn’t even playing on a college team only recreational volleyball. Of course, it doesn’t excuse all those mistakes, but it explains the mental breakdowns.

  40. Kahuna April 14, 2018 9:23 pm

Oh..what I meant to say was it’s not like indoor where everybody on scholie is on full scholie. I don’t think they partial it out for the indoor game.

Does anybody on beach get full scholie??? Just wondering.

  41. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 9:24 pm

Hawaii up 15-11 at the TTO

  42. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 9:28 pm

Ace by Matautia gives Hawaii a 19-13 lead.

49ers come back to tie at 10. to uh

  46. Don April 14, 2018 9:59 pm

Tuininga touched the net on the way down. Bad no-call.everyone in the arena saw it…

  47. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 10:04 pm

Beach loses the challenge. it’s 13-11.

  48. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 10:07 pm

Ace by G. Worsley, Parapunov with the kill 15-11

  49. HawaiiMongoose April 14, 2018 10:08 pm

    OUTSTANDING.

  50. Don April 14, 2018 10:10 pm

    47. Dam right…took dickson 1 second. Knipe should know better…he really is a jerk.

  51. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 10:12 pm

UH is on upward trend, rado and stijn just need to continue to play well and the middles need to continue to be unstopable.
This was huge after last nights chokejob so UH now has a must win semifinal in big west tourney against Irvine, they win that and they shore up the at large.

  52. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 10:15 pm

It’s obvious Uh goes where Rado goes. He plays lights out UH is unbeatable, he plays okay Uh can still beat anyone if Stijn is good, but when Rado does not play well they can lose to teams like Northridge and Pepperdine.

  53. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 10:23 pm

Anyone know which recruits are in the stands? Too bad Michael wright picked Ohio state over Uh and BYU, he was Jennings like setter in 2019 class.

  54. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 10:37 pm

By the way Rosie had a great game, got key kills didn’t make many hitting errors and made less service errors tonight , big turnaround from last night and this team really needed that from him.
Gage had nice redemption match also.

  55. Cindy Luis April 14, 2018 10:43 pm

    50. i wouldn’t say that. he basically got another TO.
Agree about Parapunov. and Rosenmeier rebounded well from last night.

  56. Warriorfan April 14, 2018 10:53 pm

By the way really too bad about Mags not playing next year, but maybe Coach hall can use the scholarship she was getting and bring in Adora Anae, or another good transfer.
Really hope the wahine win the national championship this season in Mags final year.

  57. lina April 14, 2018 11:14 pm

Warriorfan, what match were you watching? Rosenmeier with more than one key service error in set 5. Rado, also with some inconsistent play overall. In the end, they won with a team effort and with LBSU making many many untimely unforced errors (net violations, etc.) in the middle of that 5th set.

One thing is for sure, Hawaii broke through for the first time this season in regards to getting over that mental wall that has killed them in many of the important matches this season.

  58. KOH I NOR April 14, 2018 11:20 pm

That means….. * final 4 championships, tournament NCAA.

    1. Long Beach State*
    2. UCLA *
    3. UC.I.
    4. BYU
    5. Pepperdine
    6. Hawai’i
    7. Ohio State
    8. Loyola Chicago
    9. CSUN
    10.

  59. KOH I NOR April 14, 2018 11:26 pm

    10. Lewis
    11. Ball State
    12. UCSB
    13. CONCORDIA
    14. Grand Canyon
    15. Fort Wayne

  60. lina April 14, 2018 11:28 pm

    59, 60,

    are you drunk? lol

  61. KOH I NOR April 14, 2018 11:28 pm

Austin Matautia had no kills, but recorded an ace tonight.

Interesting. Really high caliber playing. No lousy players allowed on the court.

  62. KOH I NOR April 14, 2018 11:29 pm

    Typo freak. Pfff…

  63. KOH I NOR April 15, 2018 12:23 am

The playoffs start on the 19th. I curious if they’ll start the same players. They are relying on Parapunov and Van Tilburg. Kills.

  64. KOH I NOR April 15, 2018 12:30 am

I’m curious if the others too can step in and play. Matautia had zero kills for the two nights of play versus Long Beach State.

Split the series. Also split with UCI, UCLA, and Long Beach State. Will Hawai’i be good enough? Van Tilburg and Parapunov in the middle.

It will be too close. Win it for Hawai’i. A really big puke. Just play. I doubt they will want to win it for Hawai’i.

I hope they lose the Big West.

  65. KOH I NOR April 15, 2018 12:34 am

Prediction? UCLA, Long Beach State is the national title.

Final pick, Long Beach State to win the national title.

    Hawai’i is ousted.

  66. WaWa April 15, 2018 7:15 am

KOH I NOR. Get a life. I hate seeing your name on this board let alone reading your scatterbrained posts.

**will probably be chastised by Cindy for that, but I’ll go ahead and say it.**

Anyhow, sad to hear about Maglio, but when it’s time to move on it’s time to move on. She has had an illustrious career both indoor & beach. We will not be bare in the cupboards. Have we heard if Scoles has committed or not?

Glad the Warriors could maintain that high level of competition after giving it what turned out to be almost everything they had in their tanks. Both G. Worsley & Gasman made up for their untimely errors tenfold. What a way to send out our two local boy seniors.

  67. Warriorfan April 15, 2018 8:02 am

Re.I hear you I liked it better when that person was banned from the blog.

Anyway It’s true that Brett had a bad service error late in the fifth but he still played much better than Friday and Rado did have a lot of hitting erros but he had a lot of crucial kills late in sets also and played much better than the csun matches.

And I do hope scoles picks UH.

  68. noblesol April 15, 2018 8:30 am

Credit for trolling would be too much credit. Unfortunate.

  69. Kahuna April 15, 2018 8:41 am

This where Hall need to get in touch with Julia Scoles and let her know a spot has opened up and one of our All American will be leaving. It could make a difference with her. But our team is pretty loaded so who knows. I think Amy Ozee will move up in flight and Chloe Luyties will crack the flights on a regular basis.

Cali Bunn, Sydney Kidd and Pani Napoleon could be ready to join in. I think Cali and Syd teamed up as youths and did very weir. Hall could pair them again.

  70. jm2375 April 15, 2018 9:07 am

    Great game last night!!

LBSU looked tired at the end of the game last night. Have heard that they don’t spend as much time in the weight room as UH, and it showed last night.

Ignore the troll. Tsai has been known to zap certain posters’ comments.

I am not a troll nor a robot nor a robot troll.

  71. noblesol April 15, 2018 9:54 am

#70. I hope someone has informed J Scoles that during beach season, the avg. ocean temperature off Pepperdine and Cal Poly’s beaches will vary from the low 50s to low 60s. Beach temps are generally only a few degrees warmer, but can feel much colder due to the wind chill and ocean mist. If she goes for a swim, it will be a short one. Ocean temps off Hawaii average in the mid to high seventies during BVB season, and are warmer other parts of the year. The coldest it gets in Hawaii, it will never be bone chilling.

  72. Ron April 15, 2018 10:02 am

I just watched the replay. I find I enjoyed it a lot more than the real thing because of no anxiety knowing the outcome. I think that LB has the best player but we have the better team. We should go far. Also, I will miss Mags but she has contributed so much to the volleyball programs she has earned the right to pick her exit time. As for the problem blogger, I just ignore him and hope I don’t sound as “psyco” as him when I comment.

  73. Kahuna April 15, 2018 10:05 am

I don’t get it. Why was my post under moderation and then removed? I said nothing close to controversial nor inflammatory. I hope this does not become a place where you just look at names and then think that person should be banned.

All I said was Hall to let Scoles know Mags is leaving and there is room for her. I noticed a post similar to mine right above me.

  74. Warriorfan April 15, 2018 10:22 am

i think Hall will have room for Scoles and then one more transfer, hope he is in talks with Adora Anae or Chrissy Jones.
I believe Jones redshirted this year at Washington so she can transfer to contender her final year of eligibility.

  75. noblesol April 15, 2018 11:03 am

#74 Re Mags, spot on. She’s earned the right to not be questioned when or why, but repeatedly and emphatically thanked for choosing Hawaii. Many who leave find their way back. Hoping she does, and it doesn’t take long. Mahalo Nui Loa, Emily Maglio.

  76. ManoaFan April 15, 2018 11:28 am

ROSENMEIER… I know he had many service errors and I HATED that, BUT Rosenmeier was FAR SUPERB in passing and service reception all weekend, and that is overlooked often. For example, on night 2, he had FORTY (40) service receptions with only 1 error. Tui was second at 12 with 1 error. That is 28 less! Gigantic responsibility and Rosie handled it like nails. Also Rosie was 2nd to Tui in digs on night 2 as well. In addition, in night 2, Rosie also hit for a great percentage and had clutch kills. He NEEDS to be on the court.

    AGREE???

  77. ManoaFan April 15, 2018 11:30 am

… sorry read the stats wrong (dyslexia? LOL) Tui was 2nd on night 2 with 21 receptions. But that is still 19 more for Rosie.

  78. ManoaFan April 15, 2018 11:32 am

Also, KOR I NOR, ya … Get a life.

  79. noblesol April 15, 2018 11:42 am

#78 Agreed. Rosenmeier reminds me of Kupono Fey. Fey’s game was ball control and to be a spark plug, and when he did that he was helping the team win. Same goes for Rosie. It’s a big plus when he hits positive and gets his serves in.

  80. Ki April 15, 2018 11:53 am

If Adora Anae is a Senior on the Beach Volleyball team, how can she transfer to play at Hawaii? Isn’t her eligibility exhausted after this season?

  81. Warriorfan April 15, 2018 11:54 am

kupono had some matches where he would go off offensively, still waiting for that from Rosie , he did that last year against pepperdine hope it happens in the big west tournament or ncaa tournament for Rosie.

  82. Warriorfan April 15, 2018 11:58 am

Re:82 Anae only played beach volleyball for two seasons at Utah , so Anae would would have one year of eligibility left but only if she graduates from utah and goes to UH as grad student,
No idea if she even plans to do that it was just a suggestion to help replace Mags.
Hope Julia Scoles picks hawaii .

  83. islandman April 15, 2018 12:38 pm

After the match winning point, where were Rado and Stijn running to ? Looks like they had an appointment to keep or something.

    new thread up for beach

  85. Cindy Luis April 15, 2018 2:25 pm

    as for answers.
    56. Beach is stacked for years to come. he’s pretty much done recruiting.
Maglio was on scholarship for inddor the past four years. They would have worked it out for next year if she stayed..
    66. nah, you’re OK
    67. I don’t have the authority to ban people. I can only mention it to our web people.
    which I have.
    72. found it in pending. not sure why it ended up there. it should be posted.
    73. Mentioned last week that Anae is done with school, is looking at playing pro indoor.
she is not coming here although she does have one year left of eligibility.
think you’re missing my point about Scoles and indoor-beach in general. Ah Mow-Santos is not that keen on having crossover players.
    79. see above answer. she has one year of beach left.
