Game Night: UH vs. UH-Hilo
For the first time in 20 days, the Rainbow Warriors are back in the Stan Sheriff Center.
This time, the ‘Bows are facing UH-Hilo.
For the ‘Bows, who are coming off a 1-3 road trip, this game counts as part of their regular-season schedule. For the Vulcans, this is considered an exhibition.
The Vulcans are expected to open with a three-guard attack, led by 6-5 James Griffin 17.3 points, 5.5 rebounds). Denhym Brooke, at 6-8, is the Vulcans’ tallest starter.
As a prelude to the festive event, the UH band is playing Christmas music.

UH is reporting Leland Green is not available tonight because of “personal reasons.”
Watching on Spectrum right now, having Clam Chowder and croissant. Too cold to venture out! 🤗
Not saying his not playing has anything to do with this, but I can guarantee you that Leland thought he was gonna be one of the key players this season. He can’t be happy with being such a deep bench player.
Everybody’ have stepped up their game. Leland needed to do the same and so far, he hasn’t. I’m sure he is extremely disappointed but there is really nobody else to blame.
What Leland should do is take lesson from Brocke and learn to just continue to work. He has two more seasons and we will lose Sheriff and Brocke to graduation so he will get his opportunity to play more.
Green should have redshirted this season since he was so far behind health wise and with Stansberry emerging, he should have known his PT was going to be limited.

He quit mid-season, citing lack of playing time.
Jordan Coleman’s departure was different.
He was a Nash guy.
Megan Huff scored a season-high 28 points in Utah’s win over BYU.
She was the back-up.
Like Huff, Eddie Stansberry is Hawaii’s most talented player.

Until Thanksgiving, I thought Handy was still with the Cavaliers. My cousin told me of his new job in Toronto.

Looks like booster/donor pressure to bring back Gary Anderson to USU shut down the AD’s search for a head coach. Reportedly, Mark Helfrich (Oregon) and Rich Rodriguez (Arizona) were on the list of candidates for the USU job. With the majority of players returning in 2019, it would be an ideal situation for a new coach.

On the broadcast last night, they mention that Green has also been battling injuries.
the one 2018 coaching that did not affect the program was at UCF — successive undefeated seasons with an entire new coaching staff — says a lot for the players!!
if Rolo leaves, who is ready to step in and become the next R ‘n S coach at UH?? a good, confident leader will spend the time and effort to train someone to replace him
can UH convince V. Passes to join the staff as the QB coach? he must have a ton of knowledge from teaching all the past, current St Louis QBs who have gone on to become starters at P5 schools — i am not leaving out Timmy Chang who did a hellav job for UH — I believe Stutz would be a better receiver coach
with so few “sr” on the current program — who will step up to challenge the starters at any position – come, 12/20 we’ll see who sign and start debate on who, if any, will push a current starter for his job

There’s no relaxing with Anderson at USU. He’s a heck of a coach and has had great success at USU before.
After Derek Dooley went 4-19 in the SEC, I thought the Power 5 conferences would never look towards the WAC/Mountain West for its new head coach.
What is Utah State’s academics like?
Andersen left Wisconsin because his legitimate student-athletes couldn’t compete with Ohio State in the 2014 Outback Bowl.
Since he went 3-18 at Oregon State, I guess the academic standards at Corvalis was still too high.

Utah State is not a super competitive academic institution- apply and you will get in- it has an almost 98% acceptance rate.

US News ranks UH at #157 in National Universities, Utah St and Fresno St at 205, San Diego St at 127.
Boise St is Tier 2/ 230-301. Colorado St is 140.
Princeton is ranked #1, Harvard #2, Yale #3 along with three other colleges. Stanford #7, Duke #8
Princeton is ranked no 1 because it has very little graduate programs and thus most of the dollars are dedicated to undergraduate studies. Boola boola is no. 1!
Does Duke give special admittance terms to its one and done basketball players ?
Andy Isabella of UMass made the AP 2nd team at WR. Led the nation in Receiving Yards per Game. UH played UMass in 2016 and 2017.
