Still in the running

There comes a time in every football player’s life when it’s time to take off the pads.

For former UH running back Joey Iosefa, that meant the start of a new career. Iosefa now plays for the Houston SaberCats of Major League Rugby.

Rugby was one of the many sports Iosefa played while growing up in American Samoa.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers drafted Iosefa in the seventh round in 2015. He was part of their final cuts that summer. He then had two brief stints with the New England Patriots totaling one game.

Now spring is over-hope to avoid any issues or problems inoff season. Expecting a huge injection of talent in August hoping all or most expected show up. As far as free agent signees. Not really surprised at no draftees. Think both Allen and Henderson have a decent chance to catch on. Leo Koloamantangi made it due to versatility T, G, and center. Allen has similar talent. Wish them all the best, they truly have a chance-GoWarriors!!!!

Not surprised, but I thought Dejon and Trayvon might have snuck in. But some say it’s better with the free agent route, rather than a late round since the player may have the option to choose the team if more than one offers.

    Kalua Pig:
Akil Francisco does play with passion. Definitely one of the more aggressive corners.

I have no idea how to rate spring performances. Well, Cedric Byrd was pretty obvious.
But I thought Manu Hudson-Rasmussen did really well at rover/nickel. It seems it’s a more natural position for him than corner. He made some big hits this spring.

    6. It was super obvious last year that Manu should had been used as a nickel and coaches put him in position to fail at corner. I expect a bounce back season for him. Asking players to do things they aren’t good at has been a issue the past 5 years in my opinion. I sure hope we use better nickel and dime packages this season for passing downs. Puzzled me how Russell Williams and Jahlani Tavai were asked to cover much faster and quicker players vs using a extra safety or guy like Manu who could probably run with tight ends and RBs.

I’m not getting my hopes high until the season plays out. It seems like they went downhill after the UCLA game even though they came close to beating a couple teams after but so did Chow which doesn’t mean anything.
